Let´s try making a concise hammerite chronology.
Foundation:
The first hammerites started as workers who worshipped their dominion of craftmanship over nature. Their religion started with the production of the first hammers used to build safe houses. The use of stone and wood and their monotheistic religion clashed with the ancient paganistic religion. Builders and Pagans start a very big and open religious war. The pagans seems to have an advantage, they are the old religion while the Hammerites are the ones trying to settle down. But St. Edgar manages to overthrow the pagans in epic battles.
Famous founders: St. Yora - St. Edgar
Golden Age:
The Hammerites are now the main religious group. Pagans have to hide in the shadows and worship their gods in secrecy. The Hammerites developt their craftmanship building great wonders. (Maybe their architectural and engeneering knowledge was vital for the creation of the City over the pagan grounds ?). The City and the Hammers grow together. Then they make their great Cathedral, that´s their highest achievement but also the start of their downfall. They somehow find the Eye. Brother Murus dies and strange things start happening. Then the great disaster happens. The cathedral is taken by evil forces and a massive zombie force walk on the streets. The keepers help the Hammers (almost revealing themselves) to lock the Cathedral. The entire Cathedral city block is abandoned and contained with huge walls.
The Dark Project:
The Hammerites are falling slowly. They don´t have the same power they had before... This is where current history starts.
--------------------------------------------------------
So briefly:
1. Karath-Din.
2. Karath-Din disaster. Rise of the Pagans.
3. Pagans x Hammerites. Rise of the Hammerites. Foundation of the City.
4. Cathedral disaster.
5. The coming of the Trickster. Battle at the temple.
---------------------------------------------------------
IMHO That´s my personal interpretation, not canon-fact.

Karath-Din is not in any way connected to the Hammerites.

I think the KD reference is just to point out the chronology of the shifts in power in the Thief world. His post never actually connects the Hammers to KD.

Interesting though it is, isn't that site mostly fanon?

Pretty much completely. Meaning no insult to the author.
Speaking of fan-based canon:
So briefly:
Quote:
1. Karath-Din.
2. Karath-Din disaster. Rise of the Pagans.
3. Pagans x Hammerites. Rise of the Hammerites. Foundation of the City.
4. Cathedral disaster.
5. The coming of the Trickster. Battle at the temple.
I'd say that's pretty much correct, with one exception - 2 would have to include the Karath-Din Diaspora. And quite a stretch between that and the subsequent Rise of the Pagans (ie, the return of humans to the site of Karath-Din).
For my own purposes I worked up a rough timeline detailing potential histories for the City. Completely fanon, but if anyone's interested, I can post it.

Yes, the Keeper's Compound stuff is pretty solid, I'll admit.
