Happy 2007 winter holiday season (ChristmaHanaKwanzika et. al.)!
I've had this thought floating around in my head for a couple days now and finally have the time to get it out:
What holidays, if any, are celebrated by the various factions in the Thief universe? Do we know of any specific events (Trickester being elevated to lesser-deity, City founders' day, etc.) that would warrant any major celebrations? I can't remember anything off-hand (it's been ages since I've read anything). I did do a couple searches here and nothing came up, except for a couple Christmas-related things, which is just an extension of our own traditions being placed in the Thief world.
What do you guys think? Are there any "Thiefy" holidays? I'm sure there have to be, considering how ancient the City is.

From TDS:
St. Edgar's Eve
From TMA:
Summer Solstice Soirée
Ficticious fan-ideas:
The Pagans likely celebrate Harvest time as a kind of holiday. Non-Pagans probably celebrate Harvest time, but less so, and without Trickster worship. The Pagans celebrate events as it applies to nature's cycles; the phases of the moon, changing of the seasons, days of the week, and the months.
The Hammers celebrate built things as they relate to historic events, and the people whom the events happened through; miracles, crafted items, structures, and structural materials.
Other:
TDS: Summersday tourney
TMA: The annual Policeman's/City Watch Ball

Ah thanks! We should make a calendar of these things.

For the Pagan calendar, we have Moonsday (Monday) and Cloudsday (?). They plant after the spring moon is full, and water until the new moon, then harvest after the full moon of fall. They call the full moon "Nene," and the new moon "Enen," and have ascribed the character of a jackal (and the jackal's shadow) to it; the jackal belongs to the Trickster (but not necessarily as a pet or watchdog).
Across the games, all seven days of the week are named as our's, but never the names of the months.

Another fan-based one - Autumn Soul's Eve (as seen in Autumn in Lampfire Hills), the Thief equivalent of Halloween.
Given the Summer Solstice mentioned already, I'm betting that a similar, Winter festival is likely.

Sure. And who knows if there's more to that jack o' lantern head on the scarecrow? Halloween, or a nod to Return to Oz, or the Pagans came around to the idea from a whole different direction?
And with the unique ability for Pagans to leave a "psychic imprint" of their last moments for Garrett to witness, they may celebrate a day for the dead.:p

All "Eves" likely indicate that there is a day with the same name following, just like in christian tradition where the day beginns with the evening before. Makes it easy for us. But at least for Hammerite purposes we could assume little holidyas for the other saints (Tenor, Yora etc.), too.
