If you're ghosting the entire game you almost definitely want to ally with the Pagans, at least. This is because
[SPOILER]At the end you need to get an amulet from Dyan, and this is very hard if you're ghosting.[/SPOILER]
It can be done, but if you're trying to do the game with minimal reloads, (like me,) then the safest way is just to ally with them.
