I realize you meant this somewhat metaphorically, but it also pains me how little of the money I've spent on Thief has actually gone to the developers. As an openly irrational fanboy of the franchise, I have the games on both GOG and Steam, and I have pristine boxed copies obtained on ebay. Not a penny from any of these purchases went to people like Steve Pearsall, Tim Stellmach, or Greg LoPiccolo.
Hopefully they got some small cut from my original purchases back in the day, but it bothers me how the people who worked their asses off to produce this incredible fictional universe don't get any money from the sales of Thief in modern markets (especially GOG & Steam).

HB Thief! Thief Gold is probably my favorite game of all time. I don't think any game since then has give me the same sense of awe and wonder as The Dark Project did, creeping through Baffords/Ramirez's/Constantine's manors, and crawling through the Bonehoard, The Old Quarter, The Lost City, The Haunted Cathedral and The Maw, among many other memorable locations. Such an amazing universe that LGS created.
