Didn't think anyone would remember me!
Of course we remember you. I like your missions a lot. In fact, I just replayed February recently. And Lost Souls is excellent.

Mike beat me to it, but yes we remember you Steffi. :) I know its been a while but I was wondering how you've been. In one of your missions you had a conversation between Benny and the smart guard... talking about masks and stuff, and I never saw it in any other mission. I used it in my most recent release. Hope you are doing well though!

Thank you Tannar!! Lost Souls was a crazy ride, I made it when I was only nineteen, plus one of my cats tried to assassinate me part way through and I wound up doing the scripting with a concussion :) And thanks for mentioning February, that was pretty complicated to put together and nobody's ever even mentioned it to me before.
Thanks John! That was Lost Souls, my last one. The conversation was supposed to be in the original game, second to last mission, (Masks?) and I lifted it because it fit with the storm. What was your FM called? I haven't played any FMs in ages, and when I did it was always one of my old favorites. I haven't been feeling too hot lately unfortunately, it's why I haven't been around, I barely have enough energy to get through the day, let alone do anything else. One of these days I'll get New Dark properly installed in my DromEd install and see where I left off in my last FM, I'm nowhere near done though.

I can't believe no one ever mentioned February to you. I thought it was very well done. I enjoyed it immensely the first time I played it, some years ago, and remember thinking at the time how clever it was. Especially waking up the female officer. And I remember having a lot of fun ghosting it. That was why I replayed it a couple of months ago. I'm now more impressed knowing you were so young and suffering from a concussion during Lost Souls! What did your cat do to you?
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well. I know how much that sucks, and I hope it gets better for you. But I'm thrilled at the idea that you might pick up dromed again. It really is comparatively painless these days, with New Dark.

Are you sure you're not getting February mixed up with Lost Souls? The female officer you revive is from Lost Souls. :) But thank you either way! When I was making Lost Souls I tried to leave three ways of doing everything, and refused to use any custom scripts, I had a lot of fun setting it all up. Did you find the hidden objective?
My cat started running down the stairs, then stopped right in my way and hunkered down. I stepped on him and he howled, bolted, and knocked my foot out from under me, I fell down the stairs and was knocked out for a while. The same cat dropped the front half of a dead mouse on an empty dinner plate a little while later too, one of the rats I used for the scripting was named The Rat Leo Left On The Dinner Plate. He's a very twisted old soul. :)
I actually didn't mind the scripting side of things, what I hate is the designing side of things, it's so tedious and it takes forever to get anything to look good. Not sure if there's much they could've done to make that less painful? What sort of things did they change? I'm really out of the loop there.

You're not alone Steffi. I try to just take one day at a time and with my crazy schedule it isn't easy. Yes it was Masks but LGS didn't set up the mission correctly so it wasn't used. I just released Love Story V Part 2 which is the finale. Many of the latest missions require New Dark so that would be your first step if you decide to start playing again. Trust me, you will be amazed at what can be done now. :) Maybe we could team up and split the work on a new mission... you on scripting and me on designing.

Yes, I did confuse the two, since I had played the two close together. But my praise remains. I don't recall if I found a hidden objective in Lost Souls or not. I did get the extra objective for putting Eleanor in the wrong bed in February, though. :cheeky:
I guess you're lucky your fall down the stairs wasn't worse. I'm sure it wasn't intentional on your cat's part. Well, mostly sure. I did some house sitting for a friend who had two Siamese cats, brothers, and they went out hunting every night and left me "presents" all the time. Nothing worse than getting up in the morning and walking down the hall barefoot...
New Dark has significantly raised almost all of the old limits (brush, object, etc.) and added a lot of functionality and fixes, in addition to running much better on modern machines. Lighting is better in many ways. Books and textures are easier to work with as most image formats are supported and high res textures are supported as well. You can create larger open areas with longer sight lines than ever before without the engine crashing. I could go on and on, but you should probably just read the release notes and look at some relevant threads in the Editors Guild. If you need some links, let me know.

@John -- I thought Masks didn't use the conversation because you couldn't hear it because the guy on the balcony was too far away? Not 100% sure anymore, I'm way out of touch with anything Thief related. Thanks for the offer but Nameless Voice would probably never forgive me if I made a FM with someone else! We tried to make a FM together ages ago, I think it was for a contest, but it didn't work out.
@Tannar -- try as I might I can't for the life of me think what you're talking about, I haven't played it in forever, I don't even remember there being an Eleanor in the FM! I should replay it sometime. I think the hidden objective in Lost Souls involved dumping a particularly evil character under the floor panels that are one of the secrets. I really was lucky, my mom was traveling and I was home alone, so there was nobody to help me if I didn't wake up on my own. I know what you mean about barefoot hazards, that's how I found the lower half of the mouse, weeks later . . .
I remember the limits being removed, at least! The lighting changes could be interesting, with all the objects being shuffled around in February I wound up having to use one of the lousy lighting settings to avoid shadows being left behind when they were moved out. That's about all I remember about the FM! I'll mosey over there and see what I can find, it'd be nice to work on a project that might actually get somewhere! Although that kind of thinking these days tends to lead to a cross-stitching spree . . .

The room brushing was done all wrong at the place where the conversation was to take place. :p I don't think NV would mind but I'm glad to know you're still alive! :)
