Now that we officially live in The Future™, may I propose we repurpose this thread to "what did you do for new years?"
Me, I met a friend at downtown Los Angeles, grabbing sushi and beer, then watching the countdown at Grand Park. It had a really neat projector shooting onto the 20-some story city hall, giving it lots of funky visual effects (like crumbling down or filling up with champagne making windows blurry etc.)
Probably not as big as the NY version, but still was nice to watch the madness. Towards midnight the security guards at the entrances just flat out gave up on trying to check people's bags as the mash-pit-stampede of people trying to get in was unstoppable :p
