He broke the handle off of a mop, tied old rags to it and dipped it in 151-proof.
Now all you need is a pitchfork and you're ready for some old-fashioned witch-hunting as a rabid, fearful citizen!!!

You have real torches ?
Yes, made by a Danish company called Aristo. Brushed steel, very heavy, with a band on the bottom, and the top of the stem, with a twisted middle center. The top has prongs almost that look like fingers turning upward. It holds a copper bowl. I use smoke less oil so my ceiling retains that painted look, ya know. Smoke colored ceilings just aren't my thing.
I really like them. Well made.

Hey, I'm new here, first off. Just saying hi.
Anyway, several years ago a friend recommended TDP to me, and I played it for a while, but for some reason I could never seem to get in the right mood. One night while I was playing, the power went out, but I really wanted to finish the mission, so I lit a couple of candles, and the game instantly came alive for me. I have been a Thief addict ever since. So there's my success story. =D
Also, this may sound crazy, but on moonlit nights (when it's dark, but light enough that you can still basically see your way around outside) I actually enjoy going out to a MetroPark by my house and playing under a tree (or under a picnic shelter if it's raining) on my laptop. It sounds kinda strange, I suppose, but it really is a lot of fun if you have nothing better to do.

I would like to play or do some other job with computer by candlelight, . But every time I try - my eyes become tired very quickly. I do not know why, but candle light makes some strange reflections on monitor and if the flame begins to move just a little from wind or something - it becomes even worse.
Maybe my candles are not good quality.. :cheeky:

Welcome to the forum Hyde, curious, were you playing by laptop? How can you play with no power. :p ;)

I use candlelight as often as possible, as incandescent/"artificial" light sets off my migraines. It could just be that you're not used to it, Ermana. It's so worth it.
Thanks! I like it here. nowhere else on the web can I find people who still talk about Thief and System Shock as anything but relics.
I have an uber-battery pack. :D Of course I have been in the middle of a game when my battery died, but it doesn't happen often.

I guess everyone has their own little setup.
When I played Thief, I used to eat pretzels and drink pepsi at the same time. It was something that I did only for Thief games.
I don't know why, but I think the combination of them seemed to "taste" like the thief environment I was in.

I once had a pink flamingo neon light. I played Thief by that a few times.
