I know my ex-husband cursed the day he bought me Thief for Xmas so long ago. Best damn gift he ever got me! No, that didn't break us up.

Who needs a relationship when one can be equally abused by DromEd!?

The Yes votes are all an exercise in self-ironic pisstaking, as is the good long-standing tradition of us gamer geeks, right?

Actually my partner like the Thief universe. She doesn't play the games but sometimes watches me play. And since I got into a couple of projects involving the Thief games she thinks it actually improves me...as long as I don't spend a lot of time in front of the PC.
I don't approve the idea of someone braking up for something as silly as a video game, but I know those things ca become quite addictive and take up a lot of time.

If a couple breaks up over a game, it just goes to show there was something wrong with that relationship already, and if Thief brings it out in the open, it's probably a good thing.
BALANCE!
Although all the side projects alone are pretty time and energy consumptive.

My wife hates computer games beyond hearts and crazy eights, but knows that I could have worse pass-times. So, play time is encouraged.

Haha, that's along the lines of what I'd tell my father when I was 16 -
"But dad, it's better than doing drugs..." It would only get me so far, though.

I'm very, very, very lucky...I happened to meet a woman five years ago that loves the Thief games just as much as I do (as well as all my other life interests and hobbies), and we're still together. On the weekends we have "game time" where she plays something and I play something. Sometimes we'll both play the same FM to see who can beat it first. :laff:
Still, I've dated women in the past who hated games, but not the Thief series nor any other game has caused a break-up. I love gaming and I love Thief, but it's not my primary life interest by any stretch.
Speaking of which, it'd be interesting to have a thread where Taffers talk about what they do for a living...I'd bet we're an extremely diverse crowd.
