I don't think the world really needs a game like this but I guess it has already been done before in one way or another. Still, I've absolutely no interest in getting this though.

I was hoping this won't appear here... And I'm ashamed that this comes from where I live. Unlike GTA or even Postal, there's no sense humor in this, dark or otherwise. Just a really bad publicity stunt IMO.
This is how it's done: (

STRAFE has a fantastic trailer but the gameplay looks horrible. Let's hope the opposite happens with this. Probably not though, and I'm still wondering whether it is a 'publicity stunt' as you say or if the thing is at least sincere with devs that really are invested in it.
Also thanks for giving me an opportunity to post this again.

The only reason Hatred will not be an obscure bargain bin title sinking into well-deserved obscurity (except for a few edgelords playing it for the lulz) have been outrage threads like this, which have catapulted it into worldwide fame.

I'm not seeing much outrage here, more weariness, which seem the proper response.

That Kids React video is HILARIOUS
Strafe does SO look like it has GOOD GAMEPLAY
I remember being fascinated by Postal when it first came out, I read plenty about it. I only got around to actually playing it last summer, when it was on sale on Steam, and I'd say it's pretty much the same exact thing as Hatred. It's a very humorless affair in which you need to kill all the civilians and police in an area in order to proceed to the next. Hatred holds little interest for me now, but a younger, angrier Henke probably would've been all over it. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Some people will defend GTA and Carmageddon as being satire, and while that's true I'm betting most people who have played those games have had sessions where they kill everyone and everything just for the fun of it. The enjoyment derived from that is not on an intellectual level, it's not about "satire", it's simply about the release of getting to act out all your worst instincts without actually hurting anyone.
I can't help but think that the fact Hatred is getting so much... well, hatred, from the gamer community is because it shows that cathartic violence we so love, but without an ounce of justification for it.

(

Anyway I agree with everything our good Henke said. I don't think violence (or anything) needs to be satirized to make a good media piece. It's rare to have destruction and hatred as the sole focal point of such a piece though, especially a video game, so it's not going to be for everyone.

But it's OK when Rockstar does it in manhunt or in a Quentin Tarantino movie?

There's a difference between 'I have no interest in getting this' and 'I have no interest in this'. I'm certainly not going to buy it, but I've no objection to talking about it. I'm guessing that's what twisty meant, too.
