Before the hippie sexual revolution (and in countries where they haven't had that social movement yet) there was (is) a worse practice, where even worse violence is kept behind closed doors and shrouded in shameful silence. If today we have a rape culture, pre-1960s we had a dignified culture of upstanding citizens that commit their crimes in places invisible to society to victims that will never peep a word of it out of deep shame.
Easy supporting evidence: countries with the most repressive social mores tend towards the highest levels of domestic violence and rape.

The difference is that I'm not the one out there screaming, demanding that the government censor your opinions.
And who in this thread did this that justifies your holier than thou calling out bullshit?
Let's look at the thread before you two turned it into "OMG how dare you to take offence, you fascist SJW prudes!" People were having a fairly reasonable discussion and were, in fact, very much taking the opposite stance:

Hatred holds little interest for me now, but a younger, angrier Henke probably would've been all over it. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I wouldn't want to ban such things, censorship is rarely good, but I don't see the point of making such game yet.

I think anyone who can't separate fact from fiction and game motivations for real ones probably aren't going to be all that sociable even if this game were banned.
TL;DR - it's a
game - big whoop.

Not a reason to ban games, but a good reason not to resort to intellectual commonplaces in the discussion.

I don't see why games should not allow stepping into the shoes of a downright bad guy.

While this isn't a game I'd buy, I wouldn't object to it being made.

Which isn't to say that I'm proposing we censor these things - just that developers should be aware of the message they're sending and, more importantly, why they're choosing to send that particular message. I'm advocating for conscious awareness and clear intent.

So you refuse to take the bait, yet you do. Good job, you're halfway to rephrasing the original post with a more elaborate set of words that still boil down to the same thing.
It's a wonder you were able to pass 6th grade english.

Completely wrong. With one notable exception the exact opposite is true.

Not sure how reliable rape statistics can be given the massive cultural variances in whether or not they get reported. In countries like Sweden, reporting rape leads to a serious investigation by the police. In some less enlightened countries (e.g. Sudan), reporting rape can get you stoned for adultery. So be less confident when talking about how much you know about prevalence of rape. Anything less is pure Dunning-Kruger.

Oh, that was easy. My mum was a friend of the schoolteacher's, so I just made everything an essay on cheeses and got through with floating colours.
What boggles my mind is how your intestines haven't yet leapt up your throat to asphyxiate yourself and save themselves from dealing with the abject stupidity you keep passing through them every minute of the day.

So... yeah... Hatred. Don't think that was posted so here you go:

And yes, the monologue is very serious and all.
Also, Hatred has its (

First off, you're basing your argument entirely on conjencture. It's not a useful argument because we have no way of knowing either way. Any attempt to compare countries that disparate is an apples to oranges comparison. And no "reported rapes" isn't perfect but it's the best metric we have to go off of.
The reason why that data is significant is because the countries with the highest reported incidents of rape are the most liberal societies even by first world standards. Those statistics don't even take into account the high number of false rape allegations (41% in metro areas, about 50% on campus) in the United States, the most religiously conservative first world country.

The question that pops into my mind is wondering what kind of person would get pleasure from playing a game like that. As far as the gameplay it sounds like it's indistinguishable from going on a rampage in GTA....which I never found particularly fun. The fun part was the police chases. There were a few times I'd deliberately trigger one of those by punching a cop and trying to escape the ensuing shitstorm.

This coming from someone who doesn't understand the difference between "rape culture" and "rape".
Let me enlighten you. One is talking about cultural glamorization of an act of violence, the other phrase refers to the act itself. Important difference.
