So I've sneaked through the mansion past the two haunts and picked up the torc and now want to head back to the drawbridge. The only problem is I don't seem able to, I've retraced my steps back to the way I came through but can't get back up to the door. So how on earth do I get back up? Jumping and mantling? I've tried that but don't seem to be able to get high enough to reach the ledge, so is there another way or is it just me? Is there a certain nack to doing it I just haven't discovered? Thanks.

Presumably, the same thing happened to me the first time through. I got out by finding the most climeable spot and getting a running start. Run, leap, mantle. If there's an easier way, I haven't found it yet, myself.

You should be able to stand next to it and then mantle up the wall.

Take a running jump if you can't just mantle up. This is a toughie, and sometimes that's the only way to get the momentum. Be sure to hold the "W" when you mantle. If you let go too soon, you will drop back to the ground.

If there IS a place to just stand next to and mantle, I'd like to know; otherwise, a running start is required.:sweat: Unless there's a difference between TDP and Gold, in this particular case? And Mercury's playing Gold? I haven't been to see the Torc since 2001. It'll be awhile 'fore I see it again--too busy.

Ive had the same problem, playing Gold. Just a few moments before I was to give up a running jump did the trick indeed.

I was never able to make the jump. What I had to do in the end was complete all my other objectives first, and then get the Torc to win the mission (as it's one of the few that doesn't require an escape.)

I play Thief Gold and never had a problem there. I just mantled back up. I will have to check and see if I did it in a particular place. but as I recall I did it in the center.

Got it. Doing a running start, jumping and keeping the space bar held down did it. I think what I was doing wrong was jumping and then hitting the button to try and mantle up rather than just jumping and keeping it held down so it'd automatically catch.

If you're really having problems, then just stack your way up. I don't think theres any crates but a healing potion works just as well for short distances. Just look straight down and drop it 'r' by default, and jump up at the same time. You'll be a bit higher up and then you should be able to reach high enough to mantle.
