Im playing DP with normal setting but i can't seem to find that damned cathedral, even with the help of the walktroughs or the search :erm:
So far i've located the watchman's grave, the house with the hammerite ghost, the burrick cave which eventually leeds into an underground path with the strange bug (bugbeast??) who has the slashing arms but still no lead where the cathedral is
I think i killed most of the ai but i know there still a haunt roaming somewhere & 2 zombies but i still have enough ammo to dispose of them.
Lets say i'm on the rooftop with that door that leads to the watchman's grave with the 2 spider guards
or if you have another place that's easier to start from, like the end of the cathedral street with the building blocking the path to the cathedral let me know & i'll see if i can find it

If you can see the Cathedral at the top of Cathedral street, then you should be able to get to it. I can't say what path to take, but you shouldn't be completely blocked.
The strange bug is a Crayman, a humanoid crustacean.
In the Old Quarter it's best to avoid the AI as much as possible, or you'll run out of weapons before you really need them. There are other tricks, as well, that won't deplete your inventory. The experience you get by avoiding the AI will increase your skills with the games and you'll be able to play entire levels without using your weapons, unless an objective requires it, or you want to use them on a whim.

Look at your map.
From the Watchman's Grave go along Market street away from the brige. Maybe you stuck with two beams near the spider cave — you can jump over them, they're not blocking the way. After you pass the beams, you'll be near some grotto that is marked on your map with keyhole sign. Don't enter it yet, but remember its placement. Turn left to the Auldale street. There're some ruined buildings, and it's rather difficult to find a way. You should enter a house that is lying on its wall (you'll find a gemstone in it). Then go "up" to its "ceiling" (actually, there's no ceiling, it's half-ruined). After that you'll be very near to Cathedral.

I'm not saying that its hard to dodge, there are lots of dark passageways were you can seek shelter if needed, but i just hate those noises they make, it makes me feel uncomfortable so i always murder them.
as for my equipment:
i lured about 4-5 zombies at one place after they murdered the burricks that were walking down the streets & i threw 3 flashbangs and poof, no more zombies
as for the burricks (in the sewers), spiders, crayman, hammerite ghosts i just needed my sword & some space so that i can move freely and backstabbing the one's that can be backstabbed
i even had plenty equipment left to take down those hammerite's walking in the church, i didn't even had to use my mine's or holy waters just my flashbombs
i've found the church, thx
i didn't saw the last part where there's a spider walking over a bridge & to the right you have a ladder (which leads into the river) & the statue area.
i just missed that part on the streets after been there for like 1.30 exploring every rooftop, sewer, house :o
i'm playing the lost city atm & its pretty big so far! i can't believe how they created such a big lvl such a long time ago which needs no loading zone's like thief 3 needed. Lots of burricks & 'fireballs' to murder to.. :cheeky:

Don't kill Fire Elementals at the southern part of the map before you get the
Water Talisman. Craymen and Fire Elementals do not like each other
thx for the hint
i'm stuck again, so i've found the fire talisman & i have to backtrap all my steps right? & i'm at the point where i have to jump over some lava to get into that building but i can't jump right because there a legde that suppreses my jump
i think i saw something in the basement that looked like that needed to be activated but i didn't had anything on me so i thought it was someting for extra loot but could it be that that gizmo was for extending a bridge because i see a hole that looks like it has a bridge inside
wait, i'll try to get a scrnshot because its not really obvious what i'm saying i think :)
edit (normally i play with a ligher setting but the print screen showed me this, so sry if its a litle dark)
the white line shows where i have jumped before
the other white line shows that strange hole

Oops… :(
It's a well-known dead end in DP. Do you have a save before you jumped there? Then load it.
There's a lever in the necropolis to the south of the map. Take it and use with the mechanism in the basement of the building on your screenshot. It will move the bridge from that hole in the wall. The problem is, that if you already jumped to the arena, you can't get back to do this and have to reload and get the lever before you go for the Fire Talisman.
If you have a speed potion, you can try to jump over the lava into a cave near the tower where you got Fire Talisman. Maybe you'll need a strafe+run jump or try to speed up using continuous jumping.

damn, i don't buy speed potions & my saves are all after the jump (i save alot after doing stupid small things: kill an enemy save, lockpicking something save..)
o well i think i'll need to use the emergency exit then and loose some health but its worth it because i don't feel like doing the entire lvl again.
there's still an exit at the area where the firetalisman temple is, but its to far to jump over the lava but i can mantle myself to that entrance in 2 jumps & still have 3 health potions left
Good thing there's lots of loot in this lvl because garret has to buy some new shoes when he gets home.. :D

Good luck.
Crunchy is right, I goofed. Wrong angle on Photo. Color me "red".

You don't need to jump back over the lava.
From just about where that screenshot was taken, if you turn to the left slightly you can see a tunnel in the rock. If you follow that it will take you up to the roof of the building. From there you can drop down through a hole in the roof.
