...I think it's the AI but I just can't shake that feeling..how they walk and talk I guess, just doesn't look/feel like Thief.

Seriously though, how could someone not be freaked out the first time they backstab a TDS haunt? I was quite convinced that I woke up the whole damn crypt.

Was it the "BOO!" level of loudness, or simply thoroughly bone-chilling?:ebil:

Are quite scary!!!
I can't believe it... I found Zombies and Haunts in TDP and TMA quite funny, actually I enjoyed the mission "Return to Cathedral".
However, the haunts in TDS are freaking me out, I can't believe I'm so scared when I'm strolling in the basement of the church in the Old Quarter. And the sounds when they die... are horrible
Amen to that, BG ! I too found them more scary and demonic than the version from the old games, especially because of my first encounter with them :

You know, for some reason, I find the TDP/TMA Haunts to be pretty funny. Yes, funny. Especially when they move and fence absurdly fast, have smiley-looking skulls and do their stereotypical evil cackle. :) The TDS Haunts frightened me a lot more, since their whispers are not only creepy, but uninteligible as well... and they don't laugh - they SHRIEK in the most inhuman ways... That freaked me out during our first encounter. To make things worse, I mistakened the Haunt in the Fort Ironwood catacombs for a regular Hammerite knight and tried to blackjack him... Hilarity ensued... :ebil:  :cheeky:
Their shriek is disturbing...

Personally I greatly prefer original haunts, the ones from Deadly Shadows felt more like reskinned beasts (as in "animals") than undead... Not to mention the fact I find the former much more memorable (it actually took me quite a while to remember where there were haunts in DS). Then again, maybe that's simply because the haunt guarding the Torc in THC has given me the greatest single scare in my gaming life (and that includes the Silent Hill series).

The only thing I liked about TDS haunts was their scream when they died.

thief 3 zombies are much easier since they can't hurt garrett when he's crouching but thief 1 zombies are much more horrible and they do this kinda' dance when they spot garrett:)

I wonder what could be done with a little more animation speed and puppet frame skip properties. :sly: I'll have to try that out.
