I liked it. It's a signature look and really lets you feel that the HUD is part of the world; and you're sitting in this thing, not 'are' this thing.
That modular art strategy is really working for them too. I'm not the biggest multiplayer game fan though. I can do it for a little while and have fun, but it doesn't move me like a good single player experience. But since they're indie devs, probably better they're acting within their means.
It might be good if they allow fan maps too; since 7 isn't that many, and I can imagine fans making a lot of cool maps.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Instead of the pilot staying relatively still within the mech, with the mech and pilot moving in relation to the outside world, it's like the player's head is staying perfectly aligned with the outside world while the mech moves around him, which looks weird (and gives me a headache).
I think it's better than the alternative of having the player's perspective lurch up and down and shake violently with each step. But really, it's just artistic license.

Not to mention that this is actually more in line with how our eyes work. Try it. Focus your eyes on an object, then move your head around. You'd notice how your view doesn't jerk around like with a camera.
Edit: Didn't notice the date on the catbarf's post. Does this count as necromancy?

Nah, I'd say it's all good.

(
http://playhawken.com/?ref=tjvbf53d) Hawken closed beta.
So now it's gonna be free to play. This might be the first F2P game I'm actually interested in. 12.12.12 seems a long way off.
