It depends on the execution.
F2P done right:- micro-transactions only really give you more cosmetic options to "dress up" your character, they don't unbalance the gameplay. Key example:- League of Legends.
F2P done wrong:- "Pay to Win". Micro-transactions can net in-game equipment or other gameplay affecting advantages that unbalance the playing field. I.e. a lot of Asian MMOs.
