Dunno. Apparently you can't get pal gamecube games to run at 480p when run through a wii, which seems rather crap. Don't get why though.
Eva, how come you have so many imports anyway?

Most Gamecubes couldn't even do 480p. They removed the Progressive Scan connector port rather quickly.

Yes but wasn't the whole thing with the wii meant to be true backwards compatibility and better resolution for gc games, rendered to 480p?

I don;t think 'the whole thing' with the Wii was simply Progressive Scan support for GC games, but I dunno what they promised before launch. I just got one a month ago, and never reall followed the pre-launch hype.

To answer my own questions, yes and yes. I soft-modded shit out of it.
I haven't tried import Wii games, since I don't own any, but NTSC-U/C Gamecube games work fine. I have to launch them through Neogamma Channel rather than through the vanilla Disc Channel, but it takes around the same amount of clicks.
In addition to disabling disc-based and online vanilla firmware updates, Priiloader gave me the option to kill the health warning screen and disable all the stupid beep sounds + the background music of the System Menu.

Call me crazy, but what's the point of modding a Wii that's not being used to play pirated software? I don't really mess around with stuff.
Wii has a thriving homebrew scene, similar to Android OS, PSP and Xbox 1. There's builds Mplayer that let you watch DVD movies, DivXs/XviDs, etc. Emulators that shit all over Virtual Console. Etc.

Because the PAL versions were often crippleware. They would strip 480p progressive scan mode out games which had it. Also they removed S-video output from PAL GC, god only knows why. I bought a US Gamecube.
It got to the point where I would just import US copies for consistency's sake and so that I wouldn't have to faff around with Freeloader EVERY time I wanted to play a PAL game.
