We may not be the best demographic for classic country music, but George Jones has passed, everybody loves him, and I couldn't pass on a thread title like that.
RIP to the king of country.

He was one of the very few I could stomach (along with Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash, though I wouldn't consider Cash purely a "country music" singer), and I loved his work. George was definitely high up among the best music artists out there, even when he was extremely high.

Grew up with him on the radio, and especially in my dad's station wagon. I'll never forget the time I was asked to speak at a funeral following the song, "You Don't Lonely Till It's Written In Stone." Fun day.

Yeah, I'm sad to see him go. I've got a lot of his great music.

Hey now, I like country. How come I've never heard of this guy? Listening to some of his stuff right now... not bad!
