Hello Fellow Thief Players,
I am not new to this forum, I used to lurk here all the time and I forgot I had an ID here, so I decided to log in and say Hello.
I've been playing Thief since it came out as a demo that came with Tomb Raider II. God, that was years ago. I played the demo until the disc broke. Bad thing, is that I broke a disc...but the good thing is that I got to memorize the entire first mission of Thief: TDP until I got the actual game.
I have Thief: TDP, Thief II: TMA, and Thief: Deadly Shadows.
I want to get Thief Gold, but I can't find it anywhere.
Thief II is by far my favorite in the series.
I am anxious for Thief 4 to come out. I am a big fan of the series and it easily tops my favorite games of all time list. It's so fun and innovative, I've never seen any other game like it. Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell aside, they still don't compare to Thief.
I also have some Thief related questions maybe you guys can help me out with...
I finally got Thief/Thief II to work on my new PC. A duel-core processor running Vista. I had to download that DDFix and it fixed the videos (allowed them to play) and the game to actually run. I have a feeling I'm missing something though. I saw something about a patch on these forums about making Thief II have better lighting and 32-bit textures or something? Where do I get that?
I also have a problem editing the dark.cfg file. I was trying to add the cash_bonus cheat (Yeah, I like buying out the loot screen so I have plenty of stuff to use.) I try to edit it in my Thief II folder in program files using Notepad, and it doesn't save at all. I can edit it, but it won't save the changes. It keeps saying something about it cannot save or something.
So hope to be able to talk about all things Thief with you all. Take care and hopefully you can help me with my issues.

Is the file set to read only? :eww:

No, it's not set to read only. On the disc it is, but not in the folder that I installed it into.

I've hear about this. I can't remember what fixed it, though. Another stupid question: Did you make a copy, or copy the contents to another notepad file and save it, rename it and drop it into the install folder to overwrite the original? Or move the file to another folder for backup, and paste one you made into the install to replace it? Just remember to turn off Word Wrap when you work in Notepad before saving.

I tried editing the file right from the folder and it wouldn't allow saving. I'll check to see if that Word Wrap is enabled and disable it. I did also try making a fresh notepad file and then naming it dark.cfg. That didn't work either. I'll try the Word Wrap and moving the file thing.
