Help a taffer getting T2 to work on XP. - by ponder

Hi,
I'm new here and desperation has brought me here. I have tried several guides to get T2 installed on XP all without success although I came very close.
I had the best success using this guide (
www.johnanthonycurran.com/thief.html#Thief) II: The Metal Age only thing I did differently to that guide was install the latest version of ddfix instead of the older one he has linked.
The game installed fine and I patched it with Thief 2 Patch, Dromed Patch from (
www.thief-thecircle.com/media/patches/) and I then used his patched thief2.exe file followed by the latest ddfix.
The game actually worked 100% in glorious widescreen, I completed the first level and then started on level 2 and saved my game there. The next day when I tried to start the game (new game or my old save) the game would crash as soon as it transitioned from the menu to the game, I don't actually get to see the games screen at all.
Any ideas?
I'm running WinXP SP2 32-bit on a C2Q Q6600, 4GB ram, nVidia 9600GT

Check the resolution (and hardware) in cam.cfg again. Sometimes it changes to 640x480 for no reason.
Or use Tafferpatcher.

Just had a look and it's still the same.
I also went into the menu and checked video options and clicked on 1920x1080 just to be sure and now the game works fine again!
I will look into tafferpatcher thanks.

So far I find this game much harder and enjoyable than T3. The NTEX textures makes a big difference to the experience :D
