I just don't see the arousal to be found in a couple of blood-sucking undead monsters getting it on
No need to be jealous, I'm sure Edward would make time for you as well.

Good.
Now that that's out of the way, you can help me find a short story.
It involved a man who lived in the mountains in the western US. His wife died and he laid her body on a table and washed her for her burial the next day.
During the night he heard something skulking around his cabin.
Then he heard screeching sounds like a pissed off cougar or bobcat fighting something in the dark.
When he woke in the morning, he noticed the bottom of his wife's feet were dirty leading the reader to assume that she had reanimated and protected him from the beastie.
We read it in English class in late middle/ early high school.
Any ideas?

i'll throw another plea in while we're at it. A sci-fi story involves a man waking up at a building's entrance with no recollection of how he got there. upon getting inside, he discovers that the building itself hosts an entire dystopian city complete with big brother-like control system and atmosphere reminiscent of "Brazil". Different floors of the building hierarchically serve as quarters to different classes of citizenry. That's all i can recollect from about 20years ago. Any clue?

Argh, I'm pretty sure something was mentioned on io9.com about a story like that, but I can't locate the article.

Hrm, well. That's very gracious of you, Starr.
I had felt dirty when that popped into my head, but I guess I needn't have bothered :D

I know that traditionally (or so I've been told), vampires have a very deep hunger for sex, so that may contribute to how they're viewed as sexual objects, I just don't see the arousal to be found in a couple of blood-sucking undead monsters getting it on. But maybe that's just me.
It's not usually a vampire getting with another vampire, or even having a "deep hunger for sex" it's usually a vampire sucking the blood of some innocent young virgin as a metaphor for sex. Vampire stories and films have always been big on corrupting the innocent, ask any English major for details!

Thanks for the link. Tracking down my copy is the next stage, I had a quick riffle through some of my old sci-fi compendiums and didn't find it but that's not really a big deal. I'm not going to complain about having an excuse to buy another collection of Golden Age shorts.
This is really a huge weight off my mind. (Which is obviously occupied by many terribly pressing concerns.)
