i am currently on the boneyard level, and i have found the room with a Burrick in the centre, with ramps going up each side. i cannot go through the door on the other side of the room; it just doesnt let me. have i done something wrong?
please someone help me!

Welcome!
That door is accesible if you play on Expert difficulty. Your choice of difficulty will open or close areas to you, and bring many other changes throughout the game. As long as you meet all your objectives you will be able to advance. Let us know if you've been all over a level and cannot complete an objective.

In THIEF The Dark Project, each level of difficulty offers you different areas to get into.
In the Bonehoard, you may see areas such as you mention, that only become available at a higher level of difficulty.
In the main, the games all follow this pattern to one degree or another, as Jtr has mentioned.
