shit, thats phreaky, but good to know. ya, i hate those little buggers, i usually just either arrow em or chop the little bastards into ribbons with my sword, and the little ones are hard as crap to hit sometimes. however, after practicing my ::whacking:: technique for a while, i can usually get em in a few good swipes, teach the little bastards a lesson.

I guess none of the Dromedites have the phobia, otherwise they would have produced a mod ages ago that replaces the spiders with something else.
Funny though how infrequently they appear in FMs though.
Personally, I rarely use my broadheads except for tripping switches - but spiders always meet the pointy end. Drowning them is always fun when it can be arranged.

Oh you babies! I cringe more when encountering angry belching burricks (boouuuuwaaah):wot: than those pesky 'flying' spiders that remain in the air entirely too long after jumping. I even like that sound the spiders make when they discover your presense (like 'ah hah I'm coming for you'):sly: followed by the patter of their 8 legs. Though rarely in proximity, the little spiders will attack the big ones. I like letting loose spiders on guards! :laff: Hehe, the guards have a hard time killing them....Zombies are good at killing spiders though, and burricks just seem to step on them.

Since I can't play if there's even a chance I might be surprised by a spider, I replace the model (spid*.bin) and texture files with some other model and texture files. Sometimes I get polygons flying all over the place, but mostly that makes the spiders invisible.
How are invisible spiders
better?
<s>They could be crawling all over you right now.</s>

The phobia is visually triggered. As long as I don't see them, I'm fine. Well, almost - but not quite, since I can still visualize them in my mind.

Interesting, I didn't know it could be a mainly visual thing. I usually tend to get more creeped out by the monsters I imagine than the ones I see, hence why I generally find horror stories scarier than horror movies. Do insects cause a similar reaction, or is it just spiders? I don't mean to pry, I'm just curious.
I should probably try to hunt down a good book about the psychology of fear, I guess.

I hate 'em I hate 'em!!!!
How can they even jump that high?
Whenever I see one I blindly swing my sword until they go away. Stupid spiders, die!

You guys are just the funniest, whoever posted "I just hit the escape" LMAO. Imagine it didn't work though! Your escape button was jammed, and it was still coming towards you! Then you are forced to witness the chilling screams of garrett, it'll tear you up inside for the rest of your days! lol.
I say the best way to get over your fear is what me n my mates do in the haunted cathedral, get up onto a balcony when you are trying to get the eye, and he is Sh*t scared of all the undead, ghosts, zombies, haunts, and i just pushed the forward key and the jump key together, and he fell into the midst of about 6 undead, he screamed his head off, I'm confident by the smell he had physically soiled himself ROFL. To see him desperately trying to hit any key that would save his life, flailing with his sword and running across the screen, getting caught on pews, only to find, the doors are now locked! ROFL, and the haunts running at him, and the rest was a quick and very painful death. After that sort of ordeal, no-one is ever quite the same again, even sexually..... LMAO. I can't remember which FM it was, but it was a Thief 2 fm, and there were literally about 30 hammerites and guards firing holy water arrows at an advancing army of undead, and I just ran in there to do a kamikaze and survived, ended up killing about 25 hammerites with just the sword and the speed potion with about 2 health left. Magic, the builder was with me that day
