I've put Thief 3 on my new computer but for some reason it won't go to the title menu screen. Whenever I press escape from the rooftop cinematic, it will show the screen but will flick back to the beginning of the cinematic. Also I can't go into XP. Any ideas?

Have you got a dual core/Hyper-threading machine? If so, you need to create a .bat file which tells the program to run in single-core mode (see the guide here: (
http://www16.brinkster.com/salvage/thief/darkengine.htm), and replace the thief.exe references with t3.exe and t3main.exe).
Do try to check the sticky threads at the top of the forum before posting.

Yeah sorry buddy will do in future.
I have a 4.2 GHZ dual Core, AMD athlon 64 X2, 2.0 GB ram, GeForce 7950 GX2. Does this affect the performance? Will do as you say.

With that setup I'd have no worries about affecting performance - it'll rocket along beautifully. There's also 'John P's cumulative texture pack' (from here: (
www.graphics-by-john-p.com/textures/Thief-DS/index.shtml)) that you can use to improve the graphics.

Thanks. I thought the thing may run the game too quickly or something thus causing all the problems? I have the texture pack from my old computer. It ran perfectly well on that one.

Is this only for the games stated in that link?

It'll work for any games that can't run on dual core - I've used it to fix Far Cry in the past, for example.

I changed the stuff to thief 3 in the notepad to bat file, but it's not working. Can you tell me what I put in it?

Did you do it for both .exe files, and run it from the folder in which they are contained?
