Good luck! Just give details and ask questions, and sNeaksie and others should get you up and running!:thumb:

Oh ho!
Well.. The problem was the dual processors, and before when I tried the solution they have on Thief-The Circle, it didn't work because apparently it didn't think I had administrator access to that
But- For whatever reason, it worked this time. And as far as I can tell so far, that was all I needed in order to make it work.
If it helps anyone, there's the how-to . (

Ah, I thought so. Glad you got it to work. And sorry for assuming that you hadn't tried it before. Didn't think about the administrator issue.
Btw: that link is in the FAQ already.:)

This probably doesn't need to go in the FAQ, but I didn't know where else to ask. I have a problem that's very minor and happens rarely, but when it does it drives me insane!
You cycle through your inventory with the tab key in Thief 1 and 2 but sometimes when I'm playing I end up being startled due to being discovered/chased/or whatever reason, and I'll end up mashing the keys under my left hand. Now because of this, I'm never sure which key sequence I've pressed, but something about what I did causes the inventory to cycle the other way when I press the tab key and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it back the way it was.
I've tried key functions like Ctrl-Tab, Ctrl-Shift-Tab, Alt-Tab. . etc. . nothing.
It happened only once before and I managed to set it right, but that was so long ago that I forgot what I did to fix it. :(

Shift+Tab is often opposite to Tab not only in Thief, but in many Windows programs.

Ah, ok. Also, when I opened up a game and started playing I noticed the inventory scrolling had gone back to its normal default mode. Apparently restarting can solve the problem. Oh well. :erg:

When I try to install Thief/Thief 2, after I hit 'Install' the disk revs up for a second or two and then drops me to the desktop and does not install.
Try installing while logged in as an administrator. These games require Admin rights to install.

This just saved me from a life without Thief. After I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows, thief 1 & 2 wouldn't install. Apparently a known issue, but it isn't in the FAQ! ;)

I think it would be a good idea to mention that booting in safe mode is what it means to log in as an admin. Users might think that they are already logged in as an admin if they're the only user or that running the setup.exe as an admin.
Also I think the manual install process should have a little more explanation. Specifically that for T2 you need to make a darkinst.cfg file with the same information as install.cfg and the install.cfg for T1 is the same except for the line resname_base X:\Thief+Y:\thief which doesn't have the res subfolder in the install directory like T2 does. Or simply include for T1
Code:
install_path .
language english
resname_base .+.
load_path .+.
script_module_path .+.
movie_path .\movies+.\movies
in the directions so that both the no-cd and manual install are taken care of at once.

The screen in Thief 1 or 2 constantly flickers, I get visual anomalies and crashes, and I'm using more than one video cards.
To solve this issue try disabling Ati Crossfire or Nvidia SLI from the respective video control panel.

I'm making an effort to finally get this FAQ up-to-date. I've started a document (will take some time to get finished) which updates the faq data, and upon completion, shall be given to one of the moderators of this forum to update the FAQ thread.:) All additions to this thread have been considered.
