I Need Help!
I've edited my "user.ini" and when I am in the game (DuesEx) I press "T" and should get a text bar with the word "Say" in it, so I can enter my cheat code. PROBLEM is that when I press "T" ( without the quotes of course ) I don't get anything!
what's going on ?
I've downloaded the "SP" patch and installed it, but still no way to enter cheat codes.

Hey, if you're the guy (or girl) that logged into #deusex tonight, I'm sorry that I missed you! Hmm. I'm not sure why that's happening. If you downloaded the MP patch, you would already have console mode activated. Here's a quick work-around:
Make a shortcut to deusex.exe somewhere, open the properties of it (right click, select properties) and then where it says target, add to the end of the line -hax0r.
This will allow you to have the console

Yeah I was #duesex tonight and I already did the shortcut thingy..
c:\Duesex\system\Duesex.exe -hax0r
is that supposed to be a ZERO or the letter O after the X in haxor ?

Okay I changed it to a ZERO but I still don't get any kind of a TextBar where I can enter the cheat code.
do I have to start with a CLEAN installation?
( because I already have numerous games saved.)

Are you pressing Shift-T? For me, the shortcut cheat works always fine. Only was unable to turn the invisibility on...

Yolanda, the solution isn't to post another topic about the exact same thing. I've deleted that topic to keep things orderly and consolidated. Here's what Yolanda had to say:

If you have been trying type then it won't work.
Open up the user.ini
Then go down to where it says T=
and then type TALK
so it looks like:
T=Talk
That should do it. Ps the MP patch does it for you so just install it.

Okay I changed my user.ini and removed the
Tilde=Type
and edited only one instance of
T=Talk
(there were no other T's to edit)
Now something strange happened.. I still don't get a TEXT box. But when I was loading a previously saved game, in the window in the "loadgame menu" has the words
CHEAT ENABLED
So I try pressing T and Shift T but no text box..
What screen do I have to be in inorder to type set whatever.jcdenton whatever.?(cheat)

Ok, I will try to explain this slowly and carefully. I hope that you will understand this time.
You need to edit the file where you see T and t (note: lowercase and uppercase). Edit these lines so that they say T=talk and t=talk. When you hop into the game, hit the t key and look at the bottom of the screen. You should see a small text line that says "say". Delete the say, then enter whatever you wish.
**The savegames now say "Cheat Enabled" because you added hax0r to the end of your command line. Thus, it DID work.
It does not matter what screen you are in. You should always be able to pull up the console.
Also, if you really want to know how to set up cheats, there are always MANY cheat sites out there you could have checked. cheatingplanet, cheatgoat, and pcgameworld.com/cheats/ are a few examples.
