About this note with the code and groups of letters...
[SPOILER]I tried assigning a number to each letter and then putting things in order and then reading backwards, but it still looks like gibberish to me.
If I'm reading backwards, I'll start from the bottom on the right. This is supposed to stay just as it is for the first two letters so we get th. The next group of letters to the left is meeg. Put those in 1423 and you have mgee. Read them backwards and you have eegm. Put the th on there and you have th eegm. So far I can see a the word "the" or "thee". Next set of letters - usoy or uyso, backwards osyu. Now we have th eegm osyu, which is just gibberish.
Next group ksee kese or esek. th eegm osyu esek.
kese uyso mgee ht - doesn't make any sense going the other way either.

I keep seeing all of these posts about a "button in the ceiling" in the house that has the bathroom with four buttons that you can press....I have tried the code 1423 and then 1234, but NOTHING! There is also a button inside the small pool, but that doesn't work either. WHERE EXACTLY in the top of the ceiling is this BUTTON so I can shoot it with an arrow?? I am playing on normal. Please BE VERY SPECIFIC, as I really do not need a hint at this point. I have used the zoom on my bow and I STILL can't find it!

[SPOILER]ok, from memory, if you are facing the elevator, to the right? side on the ceiling is a very hard to see hole with a very hard to see button. turn your gamma WAY up and you can see it easier. but it is not very far away. i don't remember the deal with the buttons on the floor, they never did anything i could see.[/SPOILER]

Have just played this FM. Took a while to get into it. Once the game took off, WOW, it was GREAT. Being a fan of rain ( it rains a lot in Wales) I thought the city looked good.
What other games has this author done?

I've finished the mission with all the loot, but I'm still left wondering if I've been eveywhere I'm supposed to be able to get to. For starters I've only found two of the five (?) red-star hints, and looking at the map it seems as if I'm supposed to be able to get behind the brick factory to the town's southern gate ("brick gate"), but the frobable metal gate at the side of the factory is locked and unpickable. Is there a key for it somewhere, or am I done with the mission?

As far as I remember the red star hints are all in gated areas, but shooting the button in the ceiling is easier. Only the guard office is available in the brick factory, the south gate is inaccessable.
