:(
And no, im not too afraid...:-p
Basically, the problem is, whenever i attempt to use the Staff Office door to leave the level, Garret says something to the effect of "I better finish everything I have to do first". However, I have all of the objectives except "Find out more about the woman who attacked you" checked off or crossed out...so HOW DO I FINISH THE FREAKING LEVEL?!?!?!?!?!
This has pissed me off to no end...I've spent hours redoing the cradle because I kept forgetting to save...this time, when i finally bothered figuring out what the quicksave function was bound too...its not working...
When it happened the first time, it seemed ligitimized. You see, I hadn't actully gathered my quota of special loot items...so I went back into the cradle...and then, after a long time, realized that all special loot dissapears when you go into the past...so i went back to the future...got the special loot...back to the past...AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK :nono:
any help would be VERY greatly appreciated...(other than "do it again")...

You have to be
In the past. Go to the Nursery Tower where you found Lauryl's Diary.
Go to the Podium, near by.Read the note!. That will give the Information you need,On the Hag.
That should tick off your objective.
I loved this Mission..:ebil:

This problem seems to stub the toes of a lot of people, perhaps it should have been made more obvious that there was something on the podium, instead of the staff's lunch

As has been said since day one of THIEF in any form. Examine every inch of every room or area you enter. Read everything you can find or is readable, including notes on walls and plaques on doors etc.
It does not need to be obvious. You just need to LOOK!

The first time went to the cradle, I just can't get out because of that note about the murder, I check every place and concluded that the note should be in the nursery, and I was right.

Then perhaps all it requires is patience. Though, admittedly, it is difficult to be patient in the cradle. At any rate, when I first played through it, I saw the podium in the middle and thought "Looks impressive. I wonder if theres loot there...", seeing as I hadnt reached the 40%, being too scared and chased to look for much. So I saved, and after several attemps, I got there and found the note. Though I had actually forgotten in the turmoil of the Cradle why I went there in the first place, and then realised the note was actually important.
What I meant was that perhaps the Objective of finding info about the hag should be more obvious? Like me, being chased by a puppet behind you and then realising theres a puppet in front of you makes people tend to forget all objectives, apart from the last one Lauryl gave them, because thats usually where they were headed.

As you say, patience is the key. If you lurk, listen, and look instead of trying to beat the game, you will see or hear the problems before you run into them.
You can successfully get through that section of the cradle without the "minion" even knowing you are there. That is if you practice WWGD as your prime activity.
Shadows, stealth, silence are your friends throughout the THIEF series. Of course, using your eyes and thinking it out also help. :)

The first time I played it, I think I spent a good 3 hours (not including time wasted then reloading) because I spent sooooo much of it lurking afraid of what would pop out at me from random places. The lurking surely helped though maybe I did too much hmm?

Heck, I lurked all the way through the outer Cradle. It was only when I was in the Inner Cradle did I realise there wasnt anything there.
Also, do Mines take out staff? I never got caught (if I did I reloaded) to find out what happens when you go into the memories as Garrett.
