As good as Hexen was I'll never play it again. I hate its level design. Heretic, now you're talking. Or Hexen 2. Or Hexen 3.

So this is a fan-made Hexen 3? Not bad I guess.

The engine switching stuff doesn't bode well for the project. They even state in one of their posts on the front page that they're mainly switching based on the perceived popularity of the engines involved. If they've already got months (or years?) of work tied up in the Doom 3 engine and a failed attempt at converting to Q4 behind them (that sucked up six months of work), attempting to jump ship to another game that isn't even out yet seems like suicide.
If a mod is good enough, people will reinstall a game to play it. Always trying to switch over to the newest tech is a great way to never get anything released.

engine switching is what killed Infiltration. And the Macross TC for Shogo.

That's some lovely concept art.
Judging from the screenshots, the normal mapping is actually making the textures look worse.

Those screens are bonerific.
