I'm past 60 now. It amazes me that it was 1998 when, armed with a 16MB 3DFX graphics card, I fell into Thief one evening and when I looked up, it was dawn. How strange it is to say, but true, that it is one of my favorite memories. Every so often I duck into here to see what's up. I am heartened to find so many enjoying a game that rewards stealth rather than violence (well, most of the time). I suspect I have shoes older than some of you. I'm also glad to see more women onboard. There were few 24 years ago.
Unfortunately, in these intervening years, my family died. So I do a little work, and travel. Right now, I am living in the Himilayas for several months, and I thought, why not fire up the game and play a few missions? I vaguely recall one I want to revisit, and I see a sticky where decribing the mission might get the title, so I'll post there.
It's been nearly five years since I played. If anyone has the inclination, I'd take recommendations for any stellar missions to rise during that time.
A final note to young people. In a world of pandemics, war, climate disaster and rising fascism, my heart goes out to you. You are the most challenged generation in human history, if for no other reason than your children face the possibility of being the last humans to live a normal lifespan. Thus, I am a great fan of "Move Over Boomer." May you be as wise as you are young. You will need to be.
Be happy when you can, and that includes thief!

I strongly recommend ''Into the Odd'', ''Rose Garden'' and ''Cracks in the Glass''; but there are many other stellar FMs created in the last 5 years.

a recent one you absolutely must try is Katharsis.

Sorry to hear about your family, VAGUS. I hope you enjoy your return to the Thief community. I myself was on a hiatus between 2011 and 2018. From the past five years, my most highly rated missions are Alcazar (2020, TG), Ascend The Dim Valley (2020, TG), Into The Odd (2020, T2) and The Scarlet Cascabel (2020, TG).

Most of the anniversary missions are worth it

A final note to young people.
Young people on TTLG does not compute, the average member age must be 40+ by now.

I echo Katharsis, Into the Odd, Rose Garden and Alcazar. I'll add Feast of Pilgrims, The Burning Bedlam and Turning of the Leaves to that list.

My thanks to all those who gave recommendations! I will try them all, and perhaps redo my personal favorite mission, Endless Rain.
40+ you say! Well, here's to the younger set, may they discover this timeless game.
I'd send a picture of the mountains here, but I don't think attachments are accepted.
Thanks once again.

If Endless Rain is your favorite, Compulsory Egress and The Sound of a Burrick in a Room will be right up your alley.
