What a shame about Garretts Notebook :(
I used that site a lot.

Removing Garrett's notebook felt like they were saying Thief is no longer relevant. (Ouch.) :\
Maybe they can still get it back up?

Thanks guys, but it would be good to know how to get onto Garrett's Notebook, but to edit it and continue working on the site.
You could always try to contact Absynthe via his TTLG profile/contact info. Looks like his (her?) 'Absynthe PAD' site was still active as of Jan. 2009, but he's not continuing with his walkthru sites.

I hope it's less a matter of giving up on Thief and more a matter of time/money shortages.

I found this on Absynthe's 'Denton's Databank':
This is Absynthe, Signing Off April 16th, 2005:
Its been a lot of fun managing this walkthrough site for several years but its time I moved on. Haven't had much to update and I've discovered several new unhealthy obsessions to occupy my time so farwell Deus Ex. It's been fun.It just sounds like he's moved on, is all. Happens to all of us eventually to one degree or another. I never visited Garrett's Notebook, so I don't know if Absynthe posted the same type of farewell there. But it sounds to me like his discontinuing the Denton & Notebook sites had more to do with moving on in RL and was not so much a critique of feelings or lack of them about the two games.

Indeed he did. The one on Garretts Notebook was very similar, and it was up there for a very long time while the site was still accessable. Now it's not. I guess he has fully signed off now.

I think he did a farewell like this :
April 16th, 2005
It's been a lot of fun managing this site for all these years, but I find that my interests lie else where now. If anyone wants to continue working with the site and make a loot-through for Thief 1, for example...
Shade and sweetwater
Absynthe
Well, I wonder how he made that site...I'd re-make one myself, if possible, but...
Gotta try and contact this dude !:erm::thumb:

[sigh] I guess he did give up on Thief then. Quite sad. :(

Well I've just sent a letter to Absynthe though I guess I'm not the one.
I think we could host Garrett's Notebook at the one of the dedicated sites if only we manage to get cached or scratch content.
I really really think Garrett's Notebook was one of the best walkthrough guides because it was a perfect blend of passion to the game, good humor and well-tasted (self-)irony.
Think if you could help guys. Or just PM me a solution how to dig everything possible from Google cache.
Thank you.

Hopefully that site will be rebuilt as it was. Those comments would allways brighten up my day.
