Tony Scott - director of Top Gun among others - has apparently thrown himself to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro yesterday at 68 years of age.
Whilst he wasn't the best director in the world, he did pulp pretty damn well. Shame. RIP.

This receives my vote for best-thread-title-of-the-second-half-of-August award. :thumb:

I saw Unstoppable not long ago. Not remarkable or surprising in any way but still very enjoyable I gotta say. Just like most the films I've seen by him.
R.I.P.

He made enjoyable popcorn cinema with a slick visual style. Never profound but almost always fun and enjoyable.
RIP

Loved Last Boy Scout, and also Beverly Hills Cop 2 and Crimson Tide. To me, True Romance stands out from all of his work - it was one of my favorite films of the 90s. But jumping off a bridge? Man, there's got to be a better way to do it. :tsktsk:

I dunno, it's pretty neat and tidy, doesn't endanger anyone else and, depending on the bridge, isn't likely to go wrong and leave you a vegetable. Only problem is if you change your mind halfway down.
