I got the same package deal as you. I found my self playing and enjoying Deus Ex more than Thief. Its hard to say it, but Deus Ex was the most enjoying game i ever played.
When the Thief series was born I couldn't think another game could be as fun. Deus Ex proved me wrong. I strongly suggest you install this game permanently on your hard drive. <IMG SRC="thumb.gif" border="0">

Why don't you titling your topic differently next time, and why don't you try asking pertinent questions towards what you're trying to figure out? This might help you get a more positive feedback, and a quicker answer to what you're wondering.
By reading just the topic sentence of your thread, my initial thought was, "This girls got air for a brain. If she thinks we're actually going to tell her not to play DX, then she's sick. What a dumb question to ask in these forums." Sorry, but I'm just being honest about my initial thought just from reading your tital to this thread. Here's what you should have titled it, "How does DX play compared to Thief?" Make your thread titles tie into what you REALLY want to know.

LOL...i'm a she too, so from one girl to another, the patch IS 100% compatible with your version of DX!!!!
i have the same one, got it with my Soundblaster 5.1. i patched it and it makes a world of difference. do yourself a great big favor and patch it.
