I was playing "Rebellion of the Builder" an odd and from what I've seen (which is not much) confused mission, at least the first part. On sissy difficulty, all the guards can hear me walking on carpet and they're as fast as haunts!
But the bug is this: I panicked and ran into an open room and attracted the attention of 3 or 4 guards. They chased me into another room, where I got an additional 2 guards, I think. I was too busy running.
So my 6 guards and I had a good run around, me getting shot at and dodging like a madman, when I run into a COMBAT BOT! It starts flippin out on me and I panic harder, cause they scare me.
I start running through doors and closing them, hoping to distance myself long enough to drop a mine or six dozen. Alas, it doesn't work. I run into a room, only to see that it's A BROOM CLOSET! O CRAP!
So I'm pinned in this dead end when I notice that my posse has gone into search, not kill mode. I flick off the light and buttress the door with my body. I take a peak out, but the door only opens an inch. I was about to open it more when OMFG COMBAT BOT FACE! sticks through the door. It's just an odd thing I know, but it prompted me to stop opening and closing the door.
This state of affairs led to all the guards going to the closet door and sticking their heads through the decidedly non-solid wood. I was sitting there panicking, waiting for them to kill me, but they never did. It was like they couldn't touch me.
Then, revelation... :ebil:
I pulled out my blackjack and since they were in search mode, they fell rapidly to my prowess! I conked out about 6 of them before the combat bot stuck in again and I disabled it in the same manner. After that, the rest of the guards joined in their unconsciousness-y goodness, except for one who I couldn't hit because I was blocked in by all the bodies. So I lean-twisted around to poke him with my sword.
A grand total of 10 guards and combat bot parts litter the tiny inside of a janitor's closet. Right in front of a mechanist camera. I almost wet myself, but then again, it's awfully late so it might just be me.
Of course, since I used so many items I had to restart the mission, but DANG that was funny!
I took a screenie but I can't find it in the folders. Even if I do find it, I dunno how to post it. If you wanna see, you'll have to teach me.

Search for "
dump*.pcx", in the main Thief folder. The asterisk stands in for "000" or "001" or "002", etc., counting upwards.
Go to (
http://www.imageshack.com) and click "Browse".
Select all your options, making sure to select an image size that's NO BIGGER than 800x600, and click "Host it!"
Ignore the pop-up ad and wait for it to upload.
Copy the link from the "Hotlinks for Forums (1)" box.
Don't close imageshack until you know it worked/you didn't mess up.
Paste it into your next post.
Preview your post.
If it worked, you can leave imageshack.
If not, try something another option.

Holy crap I've got a doppleganger!:wot:
Your not Peanuckle, I'M PEANUCKLE
BTW, imageshack keeps saying that the file integrity check has failed. What's that mean?

And by the way, this isn't a bug specific to this FM, it's a well-known engine "feature".

Heh heh.... That's funny Yandros! The Janitor Closet of Protection!
Might that imageshack error have to do with the file being bigger than 1.5 MB's? It varies with your resolution settings. Shrink it down first. Sorry I didn't think to tell you that first. My screen-dump files are 2.17 MB's. I usually adjust the brightness/contrast, remove the overlay, adjust saturation, and shrink it. I might even change the file-type before I upload it. But that's the way I do it.

I see...
Well, I think I'll take a day or so and get my noob @$$ to figure out how to do all that.:o
Yandros on 9/9/2007 at 00:37
jtr7 - Not the closet per se, just the guards poking their head through a solid door and getting knocked out part.
jtr7 on 9/9/2007 at 02:16
Just the shrinking part will do. If we can't see it, we can tweak it ourselves.
