So just started this. Looks very nice. Haven't played much more than the first two quick levels. What does everyone think?

I have been waiting for a new Hitman game for what, 6 years? Needless to say, I am stoked to get my hands on it.

Excellent, excellent game so far. Environments are amazingly detailed and look great.
I play it on Purist for maximum possible score for each mission, challenges aside (and that means no disclosures, all evidences collected, all neutralised bodies are hidden). So far my ratings for the 4 first missions are: Shadow, Silent Assassin, Shadow, Professional; I don't think that greater ratings are possible for 1, 3, and 4.
And it's really, really hard stealth game when you play it on Purist without disclosures, LOTS of patrolling enemies, much harder than Thief f.e. I experiment and try every segment of a mission like 20 times before I find a proper way, thankfully the missions now are divided in sections which usually aren't too big, and trying various ways isn't a problem because a checkpoint is never too far.
If you want THE stealth, play it on Purist people and restart from checkpont when you are discovered. But before trying that, make sure to learn game mechanics on Normal or Hard.
PS: I recommend (

It seems to be a divisive game in the series. That review loved it and called it the best in the series, while another review I read thought it was the worst (mainly due to diverging significantly from Blood Money's gameplay, but they also hated the story).

The game mechanics was significantly revised compared with older games, yes, but I think definitely for the better.
They fixed major gameplay problems (as I see them) of previous Hitman(s). Firstly, playing f.e. BM on high difficulties, I used to deny/fear experimentation because if I failed I would have to restart from afar and do lots and lots of time consuming actions again just to
return to the spot, now it's not such a problem even on Purist, the game has become more experiment-friendly :) ; secondly, now you're not spotted momentarily, you have some time to react and do some actions to hide, a success now depends on skill and outsight more than before, as gameplay became less "unpredictable", you can't be spotted by someone from 50 meters and angle 90 degrees in just 0.01 sec as it used to be, it's the most important improvement.
Now it doesn't mean the game became easier, it actually became harder (if played on high difficulty and with no disclosures) because they added a lot more stationary and patrolling enemies, and they do feel alive, thanks to many (and fun) dialogues, good mocap, and diversified actions.

I knew that Blood Money would become the best in series and stay that forever, but I wasn't ready at all that they would kill this series with this Absolution abomination. They have made a Splinter Cell + Batman game with no sandbox and broken disguise system and calling it Hitman. It's because the core team members of IO left after Blood Money and apparently these new noobs have no idea what makes a Hitman game, or they were commanded to make a game that would please everyone. RIP 47.

Sandbox is there, sections where you're required to kill target(s) are sandboxes as usual, but this time they are simply connected to each other via splinter cell - like sections, where player has to use his or her stealth abilities, such connectons were absent earlier. About pleasing everyone - it's actually harder than BM.
BTW, I loved 1st Hitman but didn't like BM.

It's a nice game and all, but it isn't what the old Hitman games were for me.
It's nice, stylish, but it cuts straight to the point with a pace that makes you feel like you're being rushed. Makes me think it's been developed for the younger, less attentive generation, who seem increasingly more interested in achievements or quick fix action than a plot and pace; which is pretty much what everyone expected, but hoped against.
It could have been worse, it is still Hitman after all.
