Well this is a turn-up for the books.
I don't think this new guy bears any particular resemblance to 47 (better than Vin though) but I'd be interested in hearing what those who are familiar with his other work think about the idea.

Shave his head plus wonders of make-up.
Anyways, resemblance to a rough polygon model?
I'm glad that conceited Diesel mobster bitch is out.

Or how about resemblance to high detail renders you horrible little gremlin?
I don't think anybody ever asked for a perfect match, but they can sure as hell do better than Vin Diesel. I was just commenting that this bloke doesn't exactly look the part at the moment, I'm sure a skin head will do wonders.

I got a perfect idea - why they don't make a pure CGI movie?
Moi Dix Mois on 7/12/2006 at 15:03
There hasn't yet been a CG movie specifically for adults that I've seen.
I don't think that sort of thing really sells.

Im also kinda thrilled by this:
"Acclaimed director Luc Besson ('Léon / the Professional') is also reported to take part in the project, taking the task of co-producer."

I've just googled for some more photos of Timothy Olyphant and I think he has some promising facial features of 47 - similarly strong square jaw, sharp eyebrows (which ask to be shawed too) plus taht cold blue cuckoo. I think he'll do after some cosmetic improvements.
And Besson's name gives some hope for quality, even though his works have really variable quality.
Anybody in the anglosphere remembers his French first fruit "Nikita" movie? It's about female hitman, featuring Reno in remembrable role of Victor the Cleaner, disposing bodies in acid. The movie has been remade by Hollywood later, starring Bridget Fonda.
All that before Leon came in.
Briareos H on 7/12/2006 at 15:11
No it doesn't. Since Léon, his movies have been shit ; he's a running joke in France.

Ditto re Luc Besson. He's done one or two good films, but the rest has been rather horrible.
Timothy Oliphant does (did?) a great job on Deadwood, but his role in that one is rather different from Number 47. Don't know how much of a range he's got.
