Lego Star Wars I and II.
Great games that are very closely tied to the movies.

Interesting. I'd kinda put that in the category with games closely tied to Lord of the Rings books myself. 'A different way of looking at a classic' kind of thing. Not that it really matters.
'bout this Hitman thing. Apparently the story starts with 47 confronting the guy who's been chasing him and telling his story, the movie then continuing mostly in flashback. I guess they get to the remorse and religious stuff that turned up in the second game pretty early as that's a good way to make him a bit more complex.
Is that stuff continued in the rest of the series though? (I never even finished 2)

Not really. At the end of the game he says
Always knew I didn't belong in this world. I wasn't made for this. But I'll never forget - those who betrayed me, and those who never failed my trust. I'll be carrying nothing (referring to a crucifix given to him by Father Vitorio) from Gontranno but this lesson: never trust anyone and rely on your instincts. Forget the past. I'll never find peace here (in a Church). So, I'll seek justice for myself. I'll choose the truth I like.
which kind of implies to me that he left the life of being a religious man and went back to killing for money. Maybe the movie will explain it better, but chances are it will just bastardize the storyline.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, a man in one of the missions prays for Allah to protect 47 shortly after giving him a high-powered sniper rifle, so maybe that's what the trailer is referring to.

(
http://www.popmatters.com/pm/news/article/43341/if-new-die-hard-is-a-hit-timothy-olyphant-can-live-free/) Interview with Timothy Olyphant
Mostly about his role as the baddie in Die Hard 4, but they talk about Hitman a bit too.
Quote:
For the past three months, Olyphant has been in Bulgaria shooting his first starring action role, in the adaptation of the video game “Hitman.” Olyphant plays the title character, Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin whose name comes from the bar code on the back of his bald head. Olyphant spoke from his hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria, during the final days of filming “Hitman” last week. "There is something about a director who is a huge fan, like the director of “Hitman” is a huge fan of the game. When people are unapologetic fans of the material, it feels infectious."
So how did the “Hitman” role come about?God bless the people at Fox Studios; the same people making “Die Hard” offered me this. It’s always a lovely thing to do a movie for someone and then have them offer you another one. This is the first time I’ve ever held down the fort on this kind of a film. This one felt like a lot more responsibility.
Were you familiar with the video game? No, I didn’t know the video game. They sent me the images from the game and it seemed like quite an opportunity. Video games are today’s comic books. You talk to the kids these days and they talk about video-game characters the way we talked about comic-book characters growing up.
The images of the character were really quite dazzling and compelling. Yet there was also something startling and different. The bare bones of the story was really quite reminiscent of some sort of great genre films.
I saw that some pictures of you with your bald head from the set leaked onto the Internet recently.I know, I stand next to some 15-year-old with a cell phone and it’s all over the Internet in 24 hours. Crazy.

It's worse than I expected. Olyplahnt looks like a teenager who couldn't hurt a fly. Where are the 47's facial features of a Frankenstein's monster? Where are those cold blue eyes which would freeze you on first spot?
Case lost.

Riddick is a prequel. The rest though, yeah.

Riddick is a prequel
...which means it falls in one of the above categories.

Wouldn't that be a great cover for an assassin?
Nobody would suspect assassination, they might check the local zoo or visiting circus, but they wouldn't expect foul play. :p
