I agree. The first thing I noticed was how poor the shot selection was and badly edited it was. Then the acting and general uninspired nature was the next thing I noticed. Sure maybe the rest of the movie isn't so bad but it's very unlikely. They chose this scene to be released probably because they thought it would be a great taster for the film.

Not necessarily, but there are certain things that can betray the poor quality of a thing very quickly. If, in that 15 second game demo, I find that the controls are so sluggish I can barely navigate the menu, that generally reflects the polish of the whole product.
Similarly, that ACTION ZOOM on the phone in that clip is more than enough to tell me that the cinematographer has no clue what he's doing.

Waht? You've never seen a film where they swoop in on the phone to suggest it's probably bad news a-calling? (plus it speeds up the scene as babyface doesn't have to walk across the room to pick it up).
