I read that the sequels to Hitman: Codename 47 were significantly different to the original. How was the gameplay changed between Hitman 1 & 2? I'd imagine that they made it more console friendly or copied some concepts from other stealth games such as MGS (possibly wall hugging + peeking)?
Thanks in advance.

Hitman 2 is an absolutely fucking amazing game for replayability once you get past the simplistic "terrorists=bad hitman=good" storyline and hilarious physics (esp. ballistics, part of the replayability for me), also one of the best soundtracks in a game ever. I highly recommend it.
I played Hitman 2 and tried to go back to Hitman 1, which I found buggy, hard to control and hard to enjoy. I thought Contracts (#3) was a heap of shit, and Blood Money (#4) was actually pretty good though I never got around to owning it.

Yeah, they didn't really nerf the game that much over the series on PC as far as I can tell. Certainly not from 1 to 2 anyway (haven't played the others to any great enough extent to really say for sure). Its mechanics are fairly console friendly to begin with a lot of ways.
Anyway, the thing is they really got the hang of designing missions a lot better. In the first there's really only three or four levels that really get into what complex fun can be had. I'd guess they were a bit nervous about the concept. In the subsequent games there's a lot more of those interesting missions.

Yes, the changes from the first Hitman game to the second one were pretty much all GOOD changes. The first one is kinda uneven and even shooty, whereas in the second one the stealth aspect is executed much better along with generally better mission design.
Hitman in general improves with every game. The storylines are what they are, but as long as the individual missions are good, I don't know if it matters all that much... ;)

1&2 were the best. Later installments were considerably easier, no real puzzles. There were too many ways to kill targets, I believe that's bad for this series, while in the first chapters you had to think hard how to realize your objectives.

No, it remained the same.

The first hitman is probably the most console-oriented of the entire series. It's also the one that there's really no reason to play since Contracts has better versions of its best missions.
The only big changes I really remember from 1 to 2 off the top of my head were changes to the save system and the addition of a first person view, both of which were included in 3 and 4 as well.

Didn't the remake 1 or something because it didn't appear on consoles?
I haven't played any of them but apparently they are fun in that you get to choose your approach to things.

Can anyone verify the legitimacy of (

I read that Hitman (3): Contracts recreated quite a few missions from Hitman 1. That game was narrated in flashbacks apparently.

Just a few, and they didn't become better (except graphics), just easier. I don't count those that were changed drastically. Hitman is basically a puzzle game, and when there are many proper ways to accomplish an objective in this game it's no good, because player hasn't to think as hard to figure it out.

They redid most of the original Hitman missions bar the jungle ones, which were crap anyway.
