I've read you can summon NPCs for the gauntlet fight, ala Elden Ring. Seems that likely would tip the scales in your favor.

I've tried to avoid reading too many tips while playing Silksong, but yeah, I read something about that NPC helper as well. I think I know who the NPC is, and he randomly pops up to help me in some normal fights every now and then, but I have no idea how to summon him for the Big Fight.

It's very much a difficulty gate where you're supposed to do other things. I feel like maybe the big problem there is that instead of a big instant "lol no" you get all these easy waves to go through first that lures you in and makes you think you can beat it until you can't.
Yup. Just like all the other similar gauntlet fights in Silksong so far, a logical ending for this fight would have been wave 5 where the first mini-boss appears. Even that would have been a nice challenge for most players.
But yeah, I've just been doing other things for now. I feel like I've explored everything already, but then I find another new corner of the map or a new secret, and there we go again. I now spend most of my time just wandering around though, but I know that I'm still missing something, because I'm pretty sure that I saw someone using
double jump in that annoying gauntlet fight in a gameplay video that I watched, and I want to have that ability too before I try it again. :D

While I'm loving the game (primarily for its vibe, world and music, though I'm also enjoying playing it most of the time), I do think that some of the design decisions are questionable, and to some extent the game would be improved by being 80% of its current size, dropping especially bosses and gauntlets that are simply not very enjoyable. Even with those, I am a big fan of Silksong, but there are moments when the game leans into punishing grind and repetition for no good reason other than that being its supposed brand. I definitely felt this less with Hollow Knight.

It makes me sad, but I admit it. Silksong became not enjoyable for me because of the difficulty. I've put it down for now, might pick it up again in the future. I remember getting to tough spots in Hollow Knight that frustrated me, but never to the point where I wasn't having fun or didn't want to go back and keep trying. But that's kind of where I'm at right now with Silksong.

At which point did you put the game down?
