I just got through the Haunted Cathedral mission. Wow, worst mission ever? Ugh, I'm SO glad I got past that. Okay, it may not be the worst mission EVER, but it's definitely the worst mission so far (in my opinion). It was just ugly the whole way through--too dark, too many zombies/apparitions, ridiculously confusing level design, BORING level design... After the AMAZING level design in The Sword, this felt like a huge step backwards. Please tell me the missions after this one aren't so uninspired.
You sound like me when I played it for the first time, long ago. I never imagined I'd ever play it again and today I like it a lot. A very good mission for monster infighting. Still, back then I got a few missions forward and couldn't get past the Cathedral, unless someone else was in the room. So, expect more soon.
BTW you should be at the Mage Towers now. Please share what you think of it.

Okay, just beat the Mage Towers mission. Awesome.
I only have one question, though: After beating the mission, instead of a cutscene afterwards (like with every other mission) I was immediately taken to the shop. And after selecting my items, I was given my objectives for the next mission, and started off in The Lost City.
Is this supposed to happen, or did I just miss out on a mission briefing?

You just missed some videos :)
Your lgvid.ax probably got unregistered, because that happens quite often on modern operating systems. There's an option in ddfix.ini to automatically fix it every time you start up if you have ddfix installed.

Huh I thought that The Sword and Lost City are the biggest. I have to play Thief Gold.
I think that in terms of closed spaces, Thief had the biggest levels in history. Dark Engine is piece of genius.
Too bad that due to cancerous consoles, games now don't have such huge levels. :(
