So what do you do if you're a young, God-fearing evangelical pastor who, out of the goodness of hearts and strong belief in church, has been invited into a parishioner's home? You'd do what anyone would do--you steal their money and the wife's undergarments!

So, he was going to use the materials to pray for her? And here I thought one was supposed to use old bones and chicken gizzards, or indulge in some sort of ritualistic cannibalism.
I wonder if he somehow thought he saw Jesus in the bra and
pants (i.e. underpants)--sort of like seeing Jesus in toast, or the Virgin Mary in birdshit. I mean, I can understand the money. God is money, right? But a musky 'ol pair of undies...who'd want anything to do with those? Maybe there were holes in the undies, and, being a
simpleton simple man of God, misunderstood what "holey" meant.
But my favorite part of the whole story is that he actually started sending threatening letters to the woman. Screw that whole begging for God's forgiveness crap. The best course of action is always to threaten the person you stole from. It's the Christian thing to do.
In the end, I'm siding with the pastor. He was there to deliver God's message. It's not his fault this Jezebel tempted him with money and knickers. She should be publicly stoned for bewitching him.
... and I'm sure the church would back me up on that one.

I think the only reasonable conclusion is that the clothing was possessed by the devil.

I sort of read the first paragraph and thought this was going to be about fett - well the underwear bit anyway. Sorry.

This reminds me of the story of the Zen master that used to ask women disciples to remove their clothing & grope them as part of a religious ritual, and bless their hearts the women were too either naive or under the spell to believe he had anything but pure motives. What I found interesting was that it was mostly the Western converts. Asians didn't have any illusions that priests can be dirty old men just like anybody. Sounds like the same situation here. Sometimes you just have to call a duck a duck.

Heard we were talking about prayer and underwear ITT. I'm here and wearing nothing but a crucifix. Let's do this.
Also, nickie, thank you SO much. That was awesome.

Jeeze, is it common practice in Africa to publicly give out the address of people in the media like that?
