This may be a stupid question, but how do I use the Holy Water in Thief 3? I've actually never used it in this game before. The other two games have holy water arrows, but I'm not sure what to do with a vial. I tried throwing it at the Resident - it just ran at me. I tried throwing it on the ground and making a puddle, but he just ran right through it. What am I supposed to do with it?

You don't say what mission, but you do THROW it at Haunts and Zombies and it is very effective
If you are in the cradle, I don't know I have never needed it in there so have never experimented with it against the "residents".

The only thing that saves you from the residents is DEATH.

It's the puppet-zombie things from the Cradle. One of the sites I've seen called them Residents, so I figured it was what they were called *shrugs*
I've killed a couple now by making them run into puddles of Holy Water. I guess maybe it was just that one that went through it. Hmmm.

Just check every little bit to make sure the body is still there. I've shit my pants a few times over that. ;)

ah, the old holy water resident trick.
Weeellll, residents are very VERY strong. Firstly they need to be unawares that you are there, or it triples their resistance. secondly, they need to stay on the water for a fair amount of time. This is because they are the strongest zombies in the game. Must be the electric shock therapy...

If your aim is good... just pitch the bottle onto an unaware resident. Worked for me. If they know you're there- throw another. They'll die... eventually.
Personally, I prefer mines. :cheeky:

Whenever I can, I use firearrows. Unfortunately, I only had 8 when I entered the Cradle, and it takes two arrows to kill one puppet, so I didn't have enough. The holy water thing is working now. I toss it really close and it usually gets them.
On another note (I Just found this kinda funny), I came across a certain puppet that wouldn't stop moving. I shot two fire arrows (my last two) at him when he was close. He didn't run at me; he didn't expload (like he SHOULD have...). No, he just turned to stare at me, thwn started throwing what seemed to be a temper tantrum. He carried on for awhile, just stomping his feet and glaring at me. He finally ran close and started throwing another fit right next to me - like, an inch away. I decided he was close enough and tossed a holy water at him, finally ending his suffering. That was funny enough that I don't fear these guys quite as much as before. :joke:

Ah, the zombies have the frustraded action? Hmm, thats something that might need to be removed. See, the frustrated stop is for when enemies cant actually attack you, like you were standing on a crate or using the wall climbing gloves. I didnt think zombies had that as well. hehe, well thats another thing to do

As far as I could see, there was actually nothing in this puppet's way. But it was dark, and maybe there was something small in the way. Either way, it was helarious.
Holy Water is working good, now. Although I must admit, I liked it better with the holy water arrows. Than I wouldn't have to worry about getting zombies and such to run through a puddle.
