Just wanted to say that with the awesome job Eidos Montreal has done with DX HR and made as close to a true sequel to the original as can be expected, I have a lot of faith in them now to do justice to Thief IV and make the Thief game we all want !
Dont let us down Eidos !!

Keep in mind that they're a separate team. We don't know what the T4 team is capable of, or if they even share the same passion for Thief that the DX:HR team shared for Deus Ex.

DXHR isn't even out yet. How do you know how good it is? And that leak isn't a full one is it so...

I hope the Thief team has a different understanding and approach to stealth and immersion than the DXHR team.

Everyone was saying how great IW and T3 would be before they came out too... Then IW pretty much flopped compared to the first DX game, but T3 wasn't so bad. I went out and purchased both those games immediately when they came out, but I'll be waiting this time to see what kinds of opinions the community has about the new games.
I don't get why the devs don't package up the first level and give it to us as a demo to really get people talking about the games and give the fans a taste of what will eventually be released.

Yeah. The DX:IW and TDS devs were on the old Ion Storm boards doing damage control all the time. We all wanted to believe them, so we took them at their word that the games would totally rock and that they wouldn't let us down. They dodged a lot of questions until after release...at which point, many of us felt duped. I won't let that happen to myself again.

Yes, and by the time that the DXIW demo came out we knew that something terrible was about to happen. While I haven't played the leaked version of DXHR, I haven't heard an uproar from fans in describing their impressions of playing the leaked beta, nor have I heard anything about it suffering from consolitis.
Incidentally, I coined and used the word "consolitis" on the Ion Storm boards as a term to describe the effects of watering down a title as a consequence of multi-platform development. It's funny that this term has lived on as a cultural meme -- it often brings a smile to my face when I see it used in magazines and websites to describe other games.
Thankfully, multi-platform games these days aren't dumbed down as often anymore as developers continue to improve.

I think we just have to wait an see. After the apparent DXHR shift in favour of the original I'm hopeful.
I have to ask the 2 posters above me - why are you full quoting a post directly above yours? Especially you twisty as you're a mod. You know people were banned for unrepentantly doing this all the time, right? And to top it off - it's ridiculous.

Deadly was *so* bad, it made me want to leave the computer room. The effort was intrinsically flawed and I liken it to an abomination. I mean, you cant jump up and down without a guard hearing you. You *can* knock him out and listen as his sword clangs *loudly* on the floor without alerting the other guard 5 feet away from him?
