How about an international Taffer convention in Maastricht, summer 2008? - by Gloria Creep

I'm just wondering....
I heard of a Finn Taffer convention, I had my own informal Dutch Taffer convention with Redleaf and Nightshifter ....... and it was a success!
How about me organizing a international (FM) Taffer conventon, for a weekend, here at my place?
Well, off course, I'll find you some places to stay overnight, when you're more than 4 ...:p :cheeky:
But I really mean it! I could throw a BBQ ..... I have some great surroundings to explore: the caves in the St. Pietersberg, here nearby ..... really great! Very "Thieflike" .... very REAL!!!
There're a lot of bats ..... also.
My father (he died in 1972) made all of the electricity channels in these caves during WorldWar II, to provide for an escape to a lot of persons, when there was a raid.
I really would like to introduce you to "Slavante".
It's... well .... a very special place to me. I'll show you!!!
I really get excited right now!
This could work!!!
I really could lead you to some great stuff ..... ánd be able to talk about Thief over diner or whatever ..... !
I know I CAN DO THIS!!!
LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!Let's hear your comments then?!!
I could make a programm for a bit of days!
Really realistic!!!Off course, it'll cost ya.
But perhaps we can come up with some sponsoring plan (check out all of yóúr possibilities!?

It sounds like a great idea, especially those caves (inspiration for your next FM, Gloria? :) ).
Summer 2008? I might even be able to finish my own first FM till then. I just have to overcome my initial inertia (I am a little hesitant about travelling :( ). I would be happy to come: I will really try and talk myself into it.
What about some RL-thieving? Not as in really for real, but maybe set something up.
Added:
And I've never really been to the Netherlands (except the airport).

It sounds like you are going to meet and sign some treaty that binds the rest of us to who knows what... ;)

Personally I like the idea. It sounds like fun, and I've always wanted to visit Europe. . .a thiefy side of Europe is even more appealing.
Unfortunately. . .living in Canada. . .its unlikely. Between the cost it'd take (plane tickets, lodgings, food, . . .spending money? Couldn't go to Europe without that, could we?), the need for a passport (is this even possible with the backlog?), and the ridiculous traveling restrictions they're putting into action everywhere, I've about given up the idea of traveling abroad in this century. Maybe someday, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
I really do like the idea though. Hope this happens for you. :)

I fully intend to have lots of money next year and I'll happily sign a taffer treaty with anyone (almost). Netherlands being one of the few European countries I haven't been to - this sounds a perfectly reasonable excuse to me. :D Love to see the caves (you must have been very proud of your father) and bats are always welcome as long they're little ones.
Here's hoping my plans work out.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd love to go, but I don't know whether it'll be possible. =\
You never know though, next year might offer different oppurtunities. ;)

How about Winter '08? That way people could come in their random thiefy attire and we'll have a REAL thief convention, lol. Aside from that, winter would be good because few people travel during the middle parts of winter (a few weeks before X-mas, right when it gets cold), least I would think... :erm:
I *might* be able to come, but thats a really slim "might."
