So you know why I'm here? It's because I'm playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for the first time, and I was looking something up related to it, and bam TTLG. And I go "I wonder how CommChat is doing?" and I get here, and there's this, and I post reply...
...and that causes Dark Messiah to crash. I feel like it's trying to tell me something.
I dearly miss ye olde TTLG and probably will for all my days, but as much as I bemoan it the death of the BBS as a gathering place was going to be killed by social media one way or the other. One of the things that made them great is, okay, it's not exactly a representative cross-section of society, but there's still a lot of different people coming from different places. The inherent retroness of forums now mean that the only people you find on them are A. people for nostalgic for forums, and B. people who want to say really repugnant things behind an anonymous handle. And then then, Reddit is the flavor of choice, not siloed websites.
Which I guess is my way of saying that I'm still trying to make peace with it all, and not be too curmudgeonly about it. I'm glad it's still alive, and even when it's not, I'm sure we'll have an archive.

Wow. Old home week. I suck because it's the best way to get the liquor down. I don't always TTLG but when I do I drink Dos Equis or a box of wine or whisky or... well. Yes a whole well. I'm the old boyfriend drunk texting. I do miss you babe. Whatever happened to the good times yashknow? Sure we moved on but did I ever know what the Brittish Broadcasting System had to do with anything when I was here? That the BBS you speak of? No? Well then. We will always have Paris Hilton.
It wasn't facebook that got me. It was wanting to just talk with folks in ordinary conversation without it constantly turning into an argument. All I do on facebook is post pics of the grandkids or copy them to my files from my kids posts. Sometimes I'll post zombie makeup done with my kids for a zombie run or something but nothing any of you would likely want to follow for. I wore myself out on world events or why my world view is nearly set concrete now. I still make a backhanded gesture at dittoheaded Obamahaters but mostly I unfollow that segment of family too. It's not worth the vexation.
Mostly I'm enjoying life. Good to see you all are alive though. If you came back more maybe I would too but you can't count on me. I absolutely must build a snowman or fly a kite or buy the JVZ Honeycomb cereal premium car on Ebay that I had when I was 10. Bygod though, I would like to know what's happened in everyones life. Mostly I just want to know the kinky sex stuff. No wait. The very kinky... no wait... just how you are getting along. Did the diploma pan out? What bike are you riding now? Can I come stay with you when I lose my job? Just the basics. Maybe we could do a thread for catching up and everyone could post at their leasure. Hell it could be this one. Fire away. I'm kinda tired just now. Told you not to count on me.
