Looks like this is a good thread for a newbie to introduce themselves. I don't even remember the first time I played Thief, but I bet it was a pirated version or a demo from some CD, I didn't have Internet access yet. Then I put all games away for a very long time until Dishonored came out and got me hooked again. It reminded me of some game from my childhood, I did some googling and now I'm sitting here listening to Garrett's smartass comments all over again.

My dad, brother and I were in a game store, circa August 2000, when we saw the Thief Gold box, and it intrigued us. The descriptions and screenshots on the back of the box intrigued us more, and so we got it. We were all hooked. A kid at the time, Cragscleft and Bonehoard completely freaked me out; I stared at the Pause menu several times.
Thief 2 soon followed and before you knew it, I was a big Thief and Looking Glass fan. My dad discovered this fan community soon after we got the game and began downloading Thief FMs. My favorite gaming memories over the years are definitely of the Thief games and all their amazing fan content. I consider it a very fortunate circumstance that we happened to pick it up all those years ago.
And, collector that I am, I still have the boxes, booklets, and tri-fold CD cases. :D
For fun, I'll occasionally play some of Thief Gold on the old laptop I first played it on. That thing chugs away, but works, and wow is it strange seeing the game in such low resolution! Yet at the time, it was the only way I knew Thief looked like. A lot has changed since.

I think it was somewhere 2000 or 2001 when i bought this one game pack containing 12 very different kinds of games. Thief The Dark Project was one of them and i've been hooked ever since :P

Can't be true . I can't imagine this masterpiece being bundled in a collection along with other dirt-cheap games. :p

First time I saw a Dark Project article in a games magazine. It was a screenshot of a castle wall and Garrett drawing the bow and a shot with NPC's. Really shame I didn't get it back then and forgot about it. Later I came across the website of Deadly Shadows, with the headline 'coming soon', I liked the screenshots and really wanted to play it, but if should take time and so I forgot about it and a couple years passed by again.
At some point I realized Thief 3 was released for almost two years already and got it, but didn't play it for another half a year, because I wasn't very curious about it. I tried the first mission, but didn't play further. Then, I wanted to play a game and decided to try Thief 3 again in spring 2006 and had one of the best single player gaming times ever.
Almost three years later, spring 2009 (same month), I finally tried the original Thief games, because I always wanted to see how the hailed original games were compared to the hated third iteration and that way discovered my all time favourite game of all times.

Deadly Shadows came for free with my graphic card in 2005. I left the disc untouched in a cupboard for a year. Then not before having considered to just dump it I finally decided to give it a try. Never disregard freebies, I guess.

First I had rented Deadly Shadows years ago for the Xbox, and I didn't get that far at all but I did quite enjoy it.At the time I didn't know it was part of series. So fast forward to 2010 I had turned 18 and I got birthday money from an aunt in September even though my birthday is on July 6.
She remembered my birthday around the time of my little brothers birthday. So now its October and I got $25 to play around with but I have no clue what to get since all the big games I was interested in at time where coming out later or I already had them.
So I asked for suggestions on Wrong Planet which is forum for people with Aspergers. When a poster suggested Thief 2 and Thief Gold I looked them up found they were in the same series as the game I had played a few years before on the Xbox.I watched videos of Thief Gold and 2 on Youtube was intrigued by what I saw,so I bought the collection by of all three by Masteronic off of eBay and the rest is history.Random Rentals has lead me to finding some of my favorite game series.
