That's how I got here, too! That was some demo. Turned my teenage understanding of video games right around.
Heretic 2 was a great, great game.

I'd never even heard of Thief till I started coming here. Then after a few years of hearing people raving about it I figured meh why not try it. I didn't like it as much as the System Shock series but it's certainly an awesome series of games in its own right. Of the first 2 the second game was my favorite.
Third game was really good also. Got the faction system working better than Deus Ex 2 did despite being done in the same engine IIRC.

Through Thief. It was a different place then.

I don't think it was so much different as we were different.

Bioshock. I'd just heard about it, thought it was gonna be like some sort of Deus Ex so I went looking for info. Stumbled in here and I remember being quite impressed with the very liberal mix of sobre conversation and defecating on one another that was running through the place.
Then Bioshock came out and part of the population went totally apeshit about KEN LEVINE LYING TO THEM!!1 Good times, gentlemen, good times.

For a given value of "we". It's not a constant, and as the value of "we" changes, so does this place. So, this actually was a different place back then.
