Im talking about the ones in the keeper place who say "crush and kill". I only got passed them by using a mine and running like hell.

You are unlikely to get out of there without using your mines and other tools. I've never tried. But I have climbed the walls and wiped them out from the ledge above.
The guy in the small section of the library outside the Hall of Statues is a sucker for an object thrown to the back of the room.
If you don't kill 'em all, you are unlikely to get all the loot. But then, you can just try. But I think the Glyph won't activate if you leave any of them alive.
Have to try a cut and run next time I visit the Hall of Statues.

actually, I made it out with only killing 1 or 2 of the guys. I couldnt find the exit at first so I ran into about every room at least 3 times with the stone guys chasing me until I finally got to the glyph.

I charted my way before I ever went into the one room where they first appear and therefore put out all of the torches. Getting past them without killing them wasn't a problem, just took some crouch-walking and some patience. The last one (the one on the stairs) was the only one I dashed past. Never did like mines.

Ghosting that part is possible, and picking up the loot is easier if you do it before you trigger the Hall of Statues cinematic. In the last room, that leads to the glyph, you don't need to take the stairs to your left. You can climb the bookcases and jump up on the balcony, directly in front of the glyph. The statues will never know what happened :P

Quite true. Sneaking through that area is more then possible, but as you said it's far easier to do if you make sure to grab the loot before you trigger the cinema. If you don't, then the hallway beside the Hall of Statues will be a pain to get through and get all the loot because of how short a patrol route the statue in there has.

The statues can be killed by 2-3 fire arrows or explosive mines (Normal), flashbombed, and even moss-arrowed (which will not make them choke, only stay still for about a minute or so). They do make the end of the mission really freaky, though.
And if this is your first time and you think this level is scary, wait till you get to the next level, the
Shalebridge Cradle. Bring lots of holy water and flashbombs :0 in case you meet THEM
:ebil: :ebil:
Oh, and did you like the cutscene where the statues came alive?
Random1156 on 22/4/2006 at 20:41
Most important thing is getting all the loot before you trigger the cutscene. I usually get all the loot, then douse all the torches between the Hall and the exit. There's only two statues you have to patiently sneak by after the torches are out.
Those statues still freak me out...
Martin Karne on 23/4/2006 at 23:21
If you have a previous save game, you can boob trap the path of the statues and douse off all of the lights in the way out, after the cutscene you will hear some booms and some statues going down to bits.

One thing about the statues is that, in my game, even if they found me running for the exit, the game status showed that my times caught is 0. Maybe times caught does not include the statues.
