If I could recommend you some classic adventure games, which you can enjoy - Broken Sword 1 and 2, Legend of Kyrandia. I love those games, even though I mostly hate point and click adventure games.

I'm an Interactive Fiction guy myself. IMO it's the genre that's pushing the boundaries between game & story in some of the more interesting ways, if you can get over that it's a text game. ((

I really liked the concept of The Last Express (real time adventure)... It's execution didn't always live up to its potential and it fell into "arbitrary game-over" syndrome sometimes and broke some other "adventure game rules", but then again the story was fascinating so sort of made up for it.

It may not be relevant, but I'm not sure your initial premise is correct -- that "story + interaction == adventure games".
I mean, games in general are interactive, and games in general can have great stories (even if it's not what they're typically renowned for), and adventure games in particular tend to be very much about puzzles.
Maybe you should simply be investigating "games with great stories", rather than adventure games (which clearly aren't your favourite thing) ?
(that said, if some of the advice here can stop those illogical/unfair puzzles from putting you off a game, then all the better, 'cause there are certainly some fine adventures out there.)

I agree with all Yakoob's points. My opinion is important.

I quite enjoyed Syberia. It's more about story than puzzles. Great atmosphere.

"The walking dead". That's not "adventure", and definitely not a "game", but a console-centered vaguely interactive cartoon, very much like Dragon's Lair. Stopped playing after 10 minutes and watched it on Jtube.
Having a narrative != being an adventure game.
Just as I stopped playing "The last of us" after the "fetch me that ladder, willya" part. Good thing I only borrowed both those games.
