cherry-pick parts of gaming environments which you deem to be somehow irrelevant
As every walking fan has failed to create comprehensive and clear sentences on this subject (apart from cute little ad hominem attempts), I accept your defeat.

Your entire fucking argument is
ad hominem, you tool.

According to the internets, it's the female companion. Just like how the admittedly mediocre shooter Bioshock 3 was liked for the same thing. It's a nice feeling to "have someone" to:
- care for
- fight with
- mate with
At least "Bubba'n Stix" had originality in it.
Being someone who does not need illusory substitutes instead of the real things, I had to look at what other elements the game(s) have. None.
You seem to be trying to make the case that those who enjoy the female companion aspect of games are somehow compensating for a real life lack of female companionship - assuming girlfriend (Inifinity) or daughter (TLOU).
Do you seriously think that you've been summarily dismissed by several established and (you'd know if you read the forums) intelligent and eloquent forum members just because of some ridiculous 4chan-style "butthurt" type thing? It's because the way you presented your argument was risible. We tend to save our reasoned discussion for those who don't wander in and vomit nonsense.

That's an understandable viewpoint, your spectacular failure though is not recognizing my willingness to talk with people I don't agree with. You clearly lack this ability.

Correct. But - as I probably said - there's nothing wrong with that, those characters are designed to evoke such emotions. My argument is that there's nothing else of value in those games. And that they are not adventure games. No counterarguments were supplied...

Such eloquency. But hey you must be such, if you say so!
faetal on 22/7/2013 at 14:29
I was referring to Henke, Dethtoll (well, he can be) and Sulphur, but hey whatever.
I suppose you get no pleasure at all from any element in-game which has a real life equivalent then? You weren't discussing rationally, you were basically doing a Koki and saying that something is rubbish because it's not to your liking and then used a ridiculous justification (I hav gurlfrend in real liyf hurr durr) to insult anyone whose opinion runs contrary to yours. So yes, rather than discuss the games with you, it's probably just better to dismiss what you say. Because you seem to have the reasoning capabilities of your average 4chan meme kid. If you want counterarguments, try making points which aren't so asinine.

Since you keep debating this single point, I assume you agree with me saying there's nothing of interest in those games apart from this feminine line.

"You keep using that word." Although I do remember reading his Stalker review, and agreeing with it.

I'm gonna send you my PayPal monies if you can quote me on this, Mr. Reasoning. Good luck!

I guess certain minor elements of the population do consider having a girlfriend ridiculous. It's okay to be one of them.

It's okay, but why do you do the wrong thing then?

To quote a reasonable person: "saying that something is asinine because it's not to your liking"
catbarf on 22/7/2013 at 16:16
Jesus christ, you're actually serious about this, aren't you?
Muzman on 22/7/2013 at 16:22
Koki was pretty funny from time to time. We should stop that comparison.
Anyway, I think the answer to the titular question is "Drink heavily beforehand". (of the ones that contain the ilk of moustache and babelfish puzzles anyway)
DDL on 22/7/2013 at 17:39
Oh god that fucking babelfish
Also, given that the Gabucino-thon seems to have descended to "I KNOW U R BUT WHAT AM I LOL" level of quality posting, why is anyone still actually engaging with him? It's making me feel actively stupider just reading this.
Muzman on 22/7/2013 at 18:23
I've never looked it up, but I've often wondered if Hitchikers' Guide the game set the bar for terrible puzzles but not in the way it should have.
Most of the examples people cite are from later games, right into the late nineties with Gabriel Night, but HHG was much earlier than that and doesn't get quoted as much. The thing is, while it's probably a bad idea for game design, they kind of fit with black Douglas Adams humour about a cruel indifferent universe. I wonder if people started copying it thinking stupid hard puzzles were ok now.
